Features I Want To See!!!
FEATURES I WANT TO SEE!:
If not in manager mode, it would be neat if you could hire a manager of your own. There should also be more coaching positions: Bench coach, bullpen coach. Also, coaches, like in real life, should work their way up through the minors. you should have a bench coac/pitching coach/hitting coach/manager for all minor league teams. If you are not happy with your major league manager, you could fire him to make your bench coach manager, or call up your AAA head man. It is such a big aspect of baseball, it should be in. At least, have bench and bullpen coaches who work their way up through the minors, and have more detailed performance records, i.e. stats, ratings. This would make your game perfect. Anyone agree? |

I don't think that feature alone would make the game perfect, no.
it would be nice to see, but I think a high percentage of OOTPers play with coaches off anyway, and might prefer to see resources allocated to other improvements.

Your right Draftdodger I have just started recently turning coaches off also when I play. I found it to be a real pain especially if I had no money for coaches and scouts. I find it better without.

I think the coaching system is great because it adds that extra challenge and realism. |

Other features:
Being able to sign some players out of retirement. This happens often in real-life(Clemens, etc.), and I have had 36 year old mvps retire who would certainly not do so in the majors. It would be neat if some players would say no, but some would say yes... |

Here are a couple of things I would like to see:
1. Different menu options when the game loads. Besides creating a league or continuing a league how about "open league." Its a simple thing to add and i find it very frustrating if I'm switching back and forth between my own league and an online league or two online leagues or something to have to continue league, wait for it to load, then open the league you want and have to wait for the first one to save then load the next one. The game already runs excruciatingly slow and this just adds to it. I especially hate it when I'm having trouble getting something to work ie opening an online league after a sim, when the game starts to crash whenever i do something. It makes a frustrating situation even worse when you have to load and save a league before you can get to the one you want. 2. I saw it mentioned but I'm gonna say it again because I dont even understand how it wasnt in OOTP2 let alone OOTP6...TRADING DRAFT PICKS!!!! 3. I think it would be cool if when you go to view the Top 100 Prospects report it would show according to your scout not a league average scout. That's what I pay the big bucks to the legendary scout for. |

I would like to see internal support for swapping teams/players between leagues. I have 2 leagues where teams are promoted/relegated ala European soccer and need to move teams/players back and forth. I use the external utility now, but it is buggy and clumsy. Something like the "edit league structure" screen but with the ability to open 2 leagues at once.

Draft Picks
Actually, in real life, trading of draft picks is rather common..

MLB teams can't trade draft picks. They can't even trade guys they picked for a certain time limit (I want to say 6 months but I could be wrong)

In the NFL and other sports, teams can trade draft picks. In Major League Baseball, they cannot. The only way to "exchange" draft picks in the MLB is through compensation for losing free agents. Basically, if a team loses a Type A free agent (a player a certain top percentage of players at his position -- I want to say 10%, but I'm not sure), then they get the first-round draft pick of the team that gets that player and a sandwich pick between the first and second round. The only exception to that is that a team cannot lose its first-round pick if it is in the top half of the draft. I believe, in that case, that the team that lost the free agent would get the second-round pick of the signing team, but I'm not sure about that. The only rule is that, to get a compensation pick, the team that loses the free agent has to offer him arbitration. If you don't offer the player arbitration, you don't get draft compensation. That's why the Braves didn't get a pick from the Yankees for Gary Sheffield. The problem with offering a player arbitration is that he might accept it; and if you can't afford it, then you're in financial trouble. I believe losing a Type B free agent (the next percentage bracket) results in getting a sandwich pick between the first and second round, but no draft pick from the signing team (or maybe it's the other way around -- I forget). So in Major League Baseball, draft picks can move from team to team based on compensation for free agents. But actually trading draft picks is strictly prohibited. Where, may I ask, did you get your false information from? |

Heh
Okay, you guys are totally right. What I had taken as trading of draft picks was, as you said, free agent compensation. Learn something new every day..
