Catobase: Black/Grey Ink Test

I've just put up a Catobase for my league, OOTWBB, and as I was looking through at some prominent players, I came across Ted Hyde. This is a player that put up huge numbers, and won league MVP honors almost unanimously. However, he was traded from a team in one league to a team in the other league about a third of the way through the season, and so he doesn't show up on any league leaderboards in Catobase.

This leads to him having a Black and Grey Ink Test score of 0. Is this a problem with the metric (are combined league statistics in a season not combined for the purposes of the tests)? It would seem to me that they should be, since the whole purpose of the tests are to define great players, and Ted Hyde certainly deserves the definition, but this season would be lost for him in that regard. Or is this an issue with Catobase?

I admit a bit of bias here, since he plays for my team. I demand proper respect for Ted Hyde!

It would be a problem with the definition of the Tests and not the CatoBase. Technically, he didn't rank in any of the individual league categories, therefore he doesn't get Test points for doing so. Again, I think it is the fault of the metric rather than the program.

Maybe I should have done a bit more research of my own...

Your answer is totally right. If you look at Mark McGwire on baseball-reference.com, he doesn't show up on the leaderboards anywhere for 1997 (when traded from Oakland to St. Louis) except in home runs, when 34 homers with Oakland was good for 9th place.

So it's not a Catobase issue at all, but I'm still a bit unhappy with the metric as a whole. Ah well.
