Fictional facepack (opinions needed) and 2004 stadium project
Hey all, I just wanted to get some thoughts on a fictional facepack I am going to start working on, once ootp6 is released. It will be a fictional facepack using faces and minor league uniforms from MVP2004. I just want to get some opinions on how much they should be cropped/zoomed, since this is my first attempt at a facepack.
I took 4 shots of each player, each one zoomed at a different level. Here's the screen shot. Does it really make a difference to anyone which one to use? Should I mix them up? I'm kind of torn between the second and third myself. Also, once I get all the stadium mods for MVP installed (real ads, logos, modded grass, etc.) I am going to release a stadium update using stadiums from MVP. Here are a couple examples ![]() Citz Bank Fenway Last edited by edm; 03-31-2004 at 12:11 AM. |

I LOVE The facepack idea
However, I believe someone else is doing a ballpark pack using MVP Baseball. I don't know if this changes anything, but I absolutely LOVE the facepack idea. |

I like the first picture for the face pack. I personally dont like the idea of mixing them up since it would look as uniformed that way. Awsome work!

All the faces are very well done...prefer 4 because only the logo on the hat shows. This would fit better with fictional leagues.
I currently use Killebrew's collection of real players and it has added a lot to my league enjoyment, putting a face with a name. How many photos do you intend to do? |

Hey EDM, great job.
How do you get screenshots in MVP? just print screen, or another button? Thanks. |

Thanks all help all. I think I'll go with the 3rd photo layout for the face pack.
Eugene Church, I took a quick look through EA's faces and there are around 500 custom faces. So at least that many. More can be created using the face maker if needed though. What's a good number to have for most leagues? I will do the first set using minor league uniforms. but, if I'm not burnt out by the end of those, I may do another set using logo-less Major league unis (no logo's on the shirt or hat). I did see Ankit's 2004 stadiums set after I posted. I will still be doing a set (night and day) if not for anyone else, for my own use. They will be a little different than Ankit however, so hopefully that will be ok. They will have real ads, modded grass, etc. I am also going to include the 8 classic parks and the 6 minor league parks (minor league parks are fictional). Peanut 11, I use fraps |

Fraps is what I used for High Heat 2004 as well. Very good program.

Killebrew's will take care of me for about 4 more seasons, then I will need add some. Is it possible to intermix photos from different sources?...that is, could I add your 500 to the game's photo folder and use them? If so, would I have to renumber each new photo, beginning with the last number of the current photos? Or will the game automatically renumber them...picking up where the first collection ended? Sorry, not very computer literate...so these might be ignorant questions. Last edited by Eugene Church; 04-04-2004 at 05:19 PM. |

Eugene,
I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to use photos from different sources (I've never tried it), but you would probably have to re-number each one. It won't automatically re-number them, at least as far as I know. In my leagues I don't give photos to every player, only those who make an all-star team, win an award, or do something special. I assign a player a photo and name the photo with the player's name instead of number because his number changes after he retires. If you're leaving the photos as player numbers instead of names, that's something you'll run into when they start retiring. |

My vote would be for #3 or #4, but any of them would work. If you do make the photo set, I would definitely use them, that is just what I was looking for!

Does that mean player 1500 who might go into the Hall of Fame will not have a photo, it will be assigned to the new number 1500? Is there any consequence for retirees that are just journeyman players and not superstars? Will they not have a photo any longer? |

I thought that after retiring a player's number changed, but looking back at an old long-time solo league it l'm not sure if that's true. What I do know is that there was some problem with players' IDs getting re-used, so maybe it was that the photo was being used twice, once for the retired player and once for the rookie who was just drafted. So if that's right, player 1500 will keep his photo but a young player who just got drafted will also be using that picture. Can someone else confirm this? I'm not completely sure. |
