Guys You Try To Always Pick Up
GYTTAPU
OK, everyone has there Ross Gload in a solo league. Everyone has a GYTTAPU. Someone that just seems to make it into your trades so you have him on your team. He usually isn't the best, but really isn't the worst either. Mine is Eric Dubose (Baltimore - MR). He always seems to make a difference on my teams. The 2003 set, he was pretty good as a MR and he was someone I resigned year after year. Now in the 2004 set, he isn't as good, but he has found his way into the rotation because of an injury. So who is yours? |

Preston Larrison, he was a decent pitching prospect for the tigers, i threw him into a deal and he became a cy young winner. Despite no having dominant ratings the guy just keeps performing, I've switched teams twice and he's come along both times.

Cubans with goatees and wearing sunglasses.
Oops. Misunderstood the question. Guess it would have to be Adam Wainwright, then.

If I play leagues with real MLB players (which is really rare these days) I usually try to get Todd Pratt. He always hit well for me in the FPS sims and if my starting catcher got hurt, he seemed to be good for an average close to .300.
If I'm playing fictional, I just try get a guy with an interesting name. |

Tyler Houston He imported being able to play 1st, 3rd, CF and catcher, so I could keep him as a 3rd catcher and play him at other positions. I also taught him 2b. He has always hit really well for me.

Toby Hall - good avg, decent power, good glove, and he always seems to be priced pretty cheap.
Carlos Zambrano - young K-pitcher I always try to go after when I'm not the Cubs. . . |

Anyone who can play both catcher and 1st base -- it basically gives me an extra roster spot.

I always get Wainwright and Danny Graves. Graves never has great ratings, but always does great. He won the Cy Young in 2003 in my first solo league.
Brad Hawpe never really panned out for me, and was like a carrer .270, .330, .350. Good, but not great. |

Anyway, I havent had many long running franchises, but I think Hawpe is going to be somebody I try and acquire most of the time. |

Joe Roa always seems to do well for me..when a P goes down...I plug him into the 5th spot...when they come back, he goes into MR and mopup and LR.
I hate 12 pitcher staffs...and use a 10 man staff so he is always a good workhorse
