Chat in head to head?
I was just curious if there is any sort of chat featured enabled in H2H play, so that the two owners playing a game will be able to chat back and forth with each other during the game.
I think this would be a definite plus, as it would be a lot more enjoyable to go through a head to head game and be able to talk to the person you are playing against. |

Nothing like the ability to talk some trash. Chat would be great, especially if online league wanted to play there games out head to head, it would be easier for the owners to find out things about other teams in the league.

Isn't that what AIM is for? To build a chat section into the game at this point, might be a little much.
Then again, I don't know the type of genius that it takes to add a feature like that. I'll be completely elated with H2H online play. Chatting is a little secondary. Mostly because I use AIM to chat. |

AA,
Eh, it would be a pain to have to minimize OOTP to talk on AIM to your opponent, and it would slow the game down as well. Think of how cool it would be to just be able to casually talk, talk trade, talk trash, comment on the players in the game, comment on the game itself, talk about strategies, question people's moves, tell someone you'll be right back, talk about the league in general, etc etc etc, in a little window while you are playing H2H. Sure it isn't *essential*, but it sure would be a great addition

Alt-Tab would do. It wouldn't minimize OOTP either.

Or, you could run your desktop at something other than 800x600. Then you'd be able to see your taskbar AND the game!

I run at 1024x768 (or whatever) and whenever I play OOTP it hides the taskbar. Is there any option to show the taskbar? That would help.

in 1024 x 768, grab the title bar of OOTP at the very bottom of it, and drag up.

I don't know, guys. Once you've got a connection made, allowing the users to chat is ridiculously simple. I'd be very surpised if Markus hasn't already implemented it.

Any information on this? Or is it in the super duper secret code book.

I don't think that in game chatting would be a usefull feature at all unless the extra step was taken to allow spectators. As mentioned, if two people are playing, and have aim open at the same time you have (3rd party) chat support right there. However this would be worth doing if others not managing either team could join and see the game being played. It would be an amazing feature for online leagues.

I actually had not even thought about having a chat within the game. Now that I just read this thread, boy it makes me think about how nice it would be. To be able to play head-to-head will be fantastic, but to be able to chat to the other manager would really add more to the head-to-head. If others within a league could view and participate within the game by watching and chatting would add a more real life aspect to it. Can you imagine playing in tournament and everyone watching the game and talking to you. This has me really starting to anticipate the release with more enthusiasm. I hope it is in the game. I will not be sad if it is not but maybe as someone state earlier it could be included in next year's version. I am sure everyone will be playing head-to-head against someone within the first 1 or 2 days. Have fun with the new version everyone. ENJOY!

It would be completely amazing to have the option to have people watch your game and chat along with ya. Well, at least watch, because AIM is already there.

The way they did it with Football Pro is create a 3rd party program that the game itself launches from. The 2 players can't chat but others can log in, watch the game, and chat with eachother. The other option would be to launch the game from KALI. If the game allows more than 2 to join you should be able to watch the game from there. But all this is speculation. I'm just praying H2H works in the first place and not at an agonizingly slow pace.

I really think that the option to allow spectators would be a HUGE plus, especially for online league playoffs. This option would change the way online league playoffs are set up.

KALI costs $20, or 10, I can't remember, but it is a lifelong membership.... If I remember correctly.
I hope that we don't have to pay for anything to play head-to-head. |
