New - All Star Editor Version 5 (OOTP5)

I was working on the display of my new utility for OOTP6 and I
coded it on OOTP5 to make sure everything was working properly.

It's sunny outside, the summer is comming and I feel generous.

I decided to share it to everybody. You can find a screenshot here:
http://www.sportplanet.com/sbb/pgcm/SS_AllS_OOTP5.JPG

New in this version

1 - The version number is now the same as OOTP version.

2 - You can now have access to the Depth, Lineup and Staff.

3 - The utility is now loading both teams in memory.
So you dont need to save for each team.

4 - (p####.txt) The text file of each player is now changed to
remove or include the comment: "Was selected to the 2003
Allstar game..." (2003 can change depend on the current year)

5 - In the career stat of the selected players, the team's name
will now contain the League Abbr. Example: John James:
CHI,AL. The deleted players from the all star team wont
show up the Abbr anymore.

6 - The tnews## (## is team ID) is now updated according to
the selected players.

7 - The lnews.txt is now updated according to the selected
players.

8 - New screen display.

9 - Small help text in the About dialog box.

A special thanks to A.J. Holz that tested it and help me to be able
to affect the good files.

I will send it to TresClub.com as usual. If you want to post it on
a WEB site, just write your email here and I will send it to you.
(only if you have a place to post it)

Thanks

Outstanding news! This takes care of all of the issues that were preventing me from using it before. Also, we can host it. Email it to me at commishorr@baseballmaelstrom.com. Thanks!

Guys, I had a chance to work with this program on a real online league file in testing and believe me, once you start using it, you won't go back to using the OOTP-picked players. It's amazing what Pierre's done with this utility, and I feel it will really be useful to online and solo leagues alike.

Coming from a commish that had to hand-edit a lot of text and database files in order to do the NABA All-Star Game "right" last season with owner-selected players, I can say that I'm very grateful for the work Pierre's put into this utility - thanks again Pierre! It's going to save me literally hours of time this year.

Any time between the time OOTP has picked the All-Stars and before you actually run the game.

For example, on my test league, when I cross the date from 07/07 to 07/08 OOTP picks the All-Stars. The game is on 07/09.

I sim until 07/08, then verify OOTP's picked the All-Stars, then use the utility, then sim to proceed to 07/09. Then, I can sim the All-Star game on 07/09 with the replacement players.

Hey, AJ, another question for you since you've used it: Are you limited to 25-man rosters or can you select more players than that and still use this utility?

Ah, good question. I don't know but I can certainly test it out - the tests I did were with a 25-man roster.

The roster limit is an overall league variable and not per team.
You could try the career editor, set the roster limit more than
25 and try to add the good number of player in the all star editor.

If it's not working than, the limit for all star game is a software
limitation.

as

Thanks a ton Pierre!

I like to follow the guideline of ‘at least one All-star from each team’ and this makes it possible.

I used the new utility for the FIBB's All-Star game on Wednesday. It worked great, no crashes, info correctly updated, etc. However couple things..

1) I believe it reversed the teams. I customized the roster for the New World league and it became the Old World All-Star team.

2) It would be greatly helpful if the players were alphabetized in the team dropdown within the editor. The appear to be in there randomly and can be time-consuming to find. Minor issue, but I imagine it is easily addressed.

Great work, PLG! I know a lot of leagues use this utility and the new one is a big upgrade.

Not sure if I understand it correctly.
You mean you affected the NL team but the changes was in the AL Team?
