NOBL - New Openings

We are about to start our sixth season (Starting draft and FA very shortly) and need to fill four openings.

Available Teams -

Florida : A powerhouse for most of NOBL's existance, is now going to be a challenging task. What appears to help the Marlins is that most of there division is rebuilding, or considering rebuilding This team has what appears to be the best offensive second basemen ever in NOBL in Ross Augustus. While old all stars like Shawn Cryer and Julio Sanchez figure to be on there way down, this team could squeak out one more goodseason from its vets while the retooling begins

Milwaukee: a new team to nobl...sort of. We contracted 2 former teams and brought in 2 new teams to replace them. Milwaukee has a very solid pitching staff, enough power hitting to be competitive and a tiny 62 million dollar payroll.

Oakland: One year removed from a division title, this team posseses Bill Coffelt the best player in NOBL history who despite being slightly grey in the tooth just had his 6th consecutive .320+ avg season, stole 75 bases, and hit 41 homers . Oakland also features some brilliant young talent in the infield and has some good young arms blossoming.

Arizona: A former powerhouse that seen age and free agent defections (among other reasons) cause its decline. Arizona has built up the 6th best farm system and has 2 of its studs prospects starting to come into there own.

On to the league. This is no ordinary league.

The NOBL is a 20-team fictional league that sims 6 days a week, 4 games per sim. We have just made some alteratiosn to the league rules including removing scouts/coaches and adding a 3 strikes rule with contract negotiations We have no salary cap, and the revenue sharing is set at $30 mil. We have a competitive, very even playing field. We're also just added a new nobl journal and are in the process of building a brand spanking new webpage.

If you are interested in a league that has been around since 1995 (FPS league) and has a solid, mature owner base, email commish@nobl.net. Please act fast as the draft and free agency begin real real soon.

Thanks for your time.

-Jon

This league is worth a look for anyone serious about competing. There are three things that set the NOBL apart from most (but not all) other leagues- consistency, maturity, and competitiveness.

The NOBL has been around since 1995. What was once a FPS Pro league is now using OOTP5. We've seen many owners over those 9 years, but the NOBL has remained. This is not a league you will invest your time into only to see it fold in two months.

The NOBL is not a high school crowd, although we have had a few younguns in our history. Older owners aren't necessarily better... but it is nice to have an intelligent conversation about the league or baseball with someone that doesn't rely on "sucks" and "rocks" as 30% of their vocabulary.

Finally, we've worked creatively to ensure a financially level playing field. We do not have a salary cap, but things are in place to where an indirect cap of around $95-100 million is in place. Taken together with our $30 million revenue sharing level, it allows any team to mount a run at the playoffs for a few seasons. You can get to the playoffs by spending money, but you can't stay there for long.

Everyone has a shot at the free agents, and we constantly look for ways to increase the talent level in the free agent pool without overloading the league with superstars. The best way to build your team is through the draft and via trades, and player movement has been one of the hallmarks of the league since its inception. If it isn't nailed down, you can trade it. We do not have a trade board, rather we rely on public pressure and communication to ensure that trades are not rip offs.

Take a look at the teams. All are within a season of being in the playoffs, and there is a wide range of veterans and prospects. This is the opportunity you've been looking for.

I've been in the league for 3+ seasons now, and I still consider myself a new guy. It's a solid league with many long term GMs, a good rules base, and a bunch of mature owners who aren't afraid of a little competitive spirit and trash talking without having to resort to calling your momma names.

If you want a league that is long term, stable and mature this should be right up your alley. Draft your players and watch them play throughout their career from rookie to has been geezer. Watch your team rise on a wave of youth as you re-build and slowly come back down as time and success both work against you. All without worrying about "how long until the league folds? I better take shortcuts and compete right now!"

With our new commissioner just now in place we should be able to squeeze 5-10 seasons out of himbefore he hands the reigns off to another mature, stable GM.

It's fun and as involving as you want it to be.

Only Florida and Arizona left... contact commish@nobl.net

Florida's notables...

Ace Shaun Cryer: Cy Young in 2001, 2004, 2005
Back to back 23-win seasons, holds K record with 390
2B Ross Augustus hit .305-34-108 in his 3rd full season. This 27-year-old is rated 8AVG, 9HR.
RF George McNatt hit .322-18-92. He's 30 and rated 8-7.
C Daniel Binion hit .308-18-83. He's 32 and rated 7-6.

Arizona's notables...

Arizona was one of the early powerhouses of the NOBL. They are a couple of seasons from being on top again. Their minors boast 5 rookies rated 4.5 stars or better, and 12 rated 3.5 or better. While their major league roster is less than most desire, it does have it's stars. 2B Mitsumi Shun (6-11) is one of the best sluggers in the game. SP Juan Brothers (74-41, 3.25) is very good every year, as is closer Stephen Langlois (34-15-108, 1.97ERA, 0.66WHIP!). This is a team ready to re-emerge. A savvy GM might exchange the three remaining stars for more young talent to furhter broaden the minor league systems.

Oakland and Florida are again open. Please contact the commish at commish@nobl.net if you are interested. As we approach the trading deadline we seek out active GM's to take on these two franchises

Florida is in a tight race in the NL Central and could either challenge for the playoffs or start to reload for next season.

Oakland is one game out of the wild card and has a young core, and the immortal Bill Coffelt is still plugging away .307 AVG 24 HR 76 RBI 34 SB at the tender young age of 37.
