Christy Mathewson - The Hammer as Best Pitcher All-Time

Check out Christy "The Hammer" Mathewson's all-time stats... just damn amazing, if you ask me....

Anyone else have a SP this dominant (1918 HOF electee, 9 Golden Arms, 19 POM, 458-157 record, 615 CG, 2.28 ERA, 5307 K)? As a caveat, the deadball era (1901-1919) was pitching heavy, but still, 9 Golden Arms (Cy Young equivalent) in 16 seasons is prety damn good all things considered...

Oh, listen to the wretch who sullied a great pitcher's career and name by trading him to the Cleveland Cesspools..... I say this now and will forever more - Ed "The Anvil" Reulbach deserved better......

And don't forget to tell them about "The Great Cobb Ripoff" when you traded an aging Hammer for a young Ty Cobb. Geez, where's an oversight board when you need one?

*cough* - aging Hammer? He was only 32 and coming off a 38-12, 1.91 ERA season... hardly decrepit...

Wasnt my fault he suffered a massive injury in New York playing for that taskmaster Cy Young... he should've had 5 or 6 more seasons of greatness and easily should have surpassed 500 victories, if it werent for Cy butchering his delivery, causing the eventual ruptured bicep tendon...
