record books
Thought I'd give it a try again.........anyone know how to edit the record books/ career leaders board? Even a program to work with .dat files might help.

Eh- I think you can open .dat files in wordpad/notepad - not sure if editing the leaderboards (given how they are generated) is a good idea that way however.

Since the career leaderboard is generated 'on the fly', editing it won't really do you much good. The game will just regenerate it again the next time it is viewed. The only method would be to have the actual players that set the actual records in your league file.

You can use one of Pierre's editors to edit players stats including those that have retired. Your career leaderboard will be edited thus when it's regenerated it will reflect your edited stats.

Editing the record books is easy, anyway. Just click on the record you'd like to change, and type in what you want. When I start a new solo league, after the first season I go through each team's record book and zero out the rookie records, since in 95% of the cases the player that set the mark isn't really a rookie.
