Angry Game crashes when trying to sim

I need some help. The game runs fine, I can make lineup changes for everyone in my league but when I go to simulate day, OOTP 3 crashes. I get this message:

OOTP3 caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 015f:bff7b983.

I am running a 300 mhz celeron with 160 MB ram with Windows 98. The only programs running in the background are explorer and systray. I just recently had to reinstall OOTP 3 after a reformat of my harddrive, but the game had worked fine after the reinstall...up until now.

I *really* need to get this fixed. Our league has had enough bumps and bruises during its 4 season run with conversion and data problems, and after finally getting past all that I don't want to have any more.

Ready to pitch OOTP 3 into a lake,

- Make sure you have DirectX 7.0a or later installed. (you can download it <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/directx/homeuser/downloads/default.asp" target="_blank">here</a>).
- Make sure you have plenty of free hard drive space.
- Make sure your league directory has the NEWS, EXPIMP, BOX, and LOGOS sub-directorys.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have directx 8.1 installed.
All 4 league folders exist.
I have 4.35 GB free on the drive.

I sorta' expected that but you have to start at the basics . Hopefully there are many other replies here too but here are my stage II troubleshooting suggestions...
- If you backed up your league on a CD (before your reformat), then copyed those files back to your hard drive then the files will all be write protected (you can check this by R-clicking on any file to check it's properties). Uncheck the "Read only" box from all the files if any are write protected. You can doe this quickly by highlighting all files in each directory, R-click to check properties, and then uncheck the "Read only" box.
- Running a test by changing all teams to CPU controlled and running auto manager would be the next thing I'd try. Make sure you back up your league 1st.
- I have mentioned this to others without success but it worked for me once: Run disk doctor and defrag. I know you have just reformatted but if you have had many program crashes since the reformat this is still a wise idea.

Sounds like it could be a Lineups/Depth Charts/Rotation issue.

Check and make sure all Rosters are valid and all teams have at least 25 players in the organization, make sure all lineups & pitching rotations are valid and filled

As Killebrew mentioned, back up your league and try running computer manager, then try simming the day... if it works after that.. it was a lineup issue and you'll need to go through the league team by team to find the error.

Thumbs up

I got it working again. I went ahead and wiped it out and reinstalled. It's working again. Not sure why, though, if anyone else has the problem ):

Thanks for the quick replys though. They were appreciated.
