Farthest From First Place In A Season

In one of my leagues, the last place team in one 5 team division is 80 games out of first place with a 33-129 record. (It's an expansion team so the poor record is not unexpected.)

I was wondering in your leagues what the farthest in the cellar you've seen a last place team sink (not counting guys that tried to tank.)

The farthest back my Pennsylvania franchise has finished is 48 games back, in 2005. Believe it or not, that's not the furthest from first an NPBL team has finished...

Code:
Great Explorers League

North

Team W L PCT GB
Minnesota 107 55 .660 -
Wisconsin 92 70 .568 15.0
Kansas 63 99 .389 44.0
Illinois 58 104 .358 49.0
I was just one game from the record, set in 2004 by Illinois. With a couple weeks left in 2006, Connecticut is 45.5 games behind New York. As good as New York is, I wouldn't be surprised if Connecticut finished 50 games out of first, but they'd still be 30 games ahead of a team who was 80 games out.

MMy 1983 CDL Pirates remain the CDL's worst, finishing 56 games back:

Code:
   Central
   Chicago (N) 101 61 .623 -- .256 3.63
   Cincinnati 97 65 .599 4 .259 3.29
   St. Louis 69 93 .426 32 .239 4.07
   Pittsburgh 45 117 .278 56 .240 5.00
The 1992 LA Dodgers have a chance to match that mark. They are on a pace for 46 wins and are currently 44.5 games back.

Hey Karen, I hear that the Yankees are on pace to break that number in that league this year. Man, that Yankees team must be good.

Yes, but the gap was much closer then it appeared. Plus I lost a few key players

Well I guess there aren't any complaints about parity in that league

Las Vegas 13 77 .144 43.0 ERA -- 6.95 BA -- .226

I'll let ya know how the season turns out. Right now, I'm on pace to have 4 20 game losers.
