Post STB Error

Alright, here's what's going on. I have STB and when I'm playing a game, I get an error saying there was an invalid operation, and STB will now shut down. I have run computer manager many times, and it still causes this error. I replaced the coaches.dat file also, and it still does it. I'm running a P3 windows ME, 1.3 ghz with 128MB of Ram and about 25 gigs of hard drive space.... Any help or suggestions?

- Make sure your league directory has the NEWS, EXPIMP, BOX, and LOGOS sub-directorys.
- Does it happen all the time or just in one league?
- What is the coaches.dat issue? I'm not familiar with that.
- Are you using custom rosters in the league that is crashing, if so which ones?

it was suggested previously that there was a problem with the coaches.dat file with the latest Rolen17 file set, which is what I'm using. Also, yes all those folders are in the file.

If this is not a long term league or an online league then I'd suggest maybe trying another roster set (or a more recent Rolen file if there is one out). There seem to have been a lot more unexplained crashes in the last month & a half and I suspect it might have something to do with the rosters. This is a little frustrating all around, for users and support folks, as the game is usually not unstable. In fact, I could probably help a lot more if I was able to get the game to crash more often .

If you are having problems with other leagues then it's a probably a game issue, in this case it may be a roster issue though so let us know if these problems are in only one league.

Also, if any users with roster-specific crash problems have found working solutions (besides the usual ones below) please be vocal about the fixes .

The usual support checks/fixes (loosely in order):
- Make sure you meet the <a href="http://www.sportplanet.com/ootp3/support.html" target="_blank">Minimum System Requirements for OOTP3</a>.
- Install DirectX(tm), which you can download <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/directx/homeuser/downloads/default.asp" target="_blank">here</a>.
- Make sure you have plenty of free hard drive space when running the game.
- Make sure your league directory has the NEWS, EXPIMP, BOX, and LOGOS sub-directorys.
- Switch all teams to computer control & run auto-manager.
- Make sure there are a proper number of teams per league for schedule purposes.
- Shut down any Windows(tm) programs that are running in the background except Systray and Explorer.
- If league was backed up on CD uncheck all "read-only" properties.
- Often a reboot will fix temporary system problems, so if the game crashes several times reboot before trying it again.
- If OOTP3 crashes when you click on an injured player you need to unlicense the game and reinstall it. The process for STB is to remove the game via Windows "Add-Remove Programs", then just reinstall from the CD.
- Running defrag and disk-doctor has helped me with minor system related problems that caused OOTP3 to crash (this solution is about 0/12 in forum support though so it's a long shot).
- Unlicensing the game and reinstalling it have been successful for a few other suspected add-on related game problems.
- If you're have video related problems make sure you have the latest display drivers for your video card, maybe use the games graphics setup as well.
