Rebuilding Stadiums Info?:

I was looking around for information/rules on various league's stadiums rebuilding and relocation info. What I'm wondering is what is everyone's idea for a good set of rules on this?

Cost for what various things?
How the team pays for it?

etc....any ideas, help is appreciated!

I guess the most realistic thing to do would be to have the team pay for a new stadium over time - IE deduct 5 mil cash from them every season for 20 years or whatever. Maybe allow them to sell the naming rights to defray some of the costs.

Check out some on-line leagues, I'm sure they have rules for this sort of thing.

Arrow Stadium Builds

We use the cost of $15M over two year period ...after second year the stadium is built. But if they can't make payments they are out of the league or similar 'pete rose' type punishment...could also lose first round draft to another team etc...many options. Can relocate anywhere they want to, does not include re-aligment. Can alter the stadium as an alternative to rebuilding. See message board link below.

Hell, do what Cincinnati did, rape your public for the stadium, then slash your payroll. Your team will make more money that way.

You could also try checking out www.ballparks.com which has various information on nearly all of the past and present baseball parks. This includes the dimensions and how they changed over the years, and a short history which sometimes includes the cost and financing aspects.

Here is what we use in the TLB...

If you would like to "build a new ballpark", you can submit plans in the off-season. Pricing is as follows:

Base Cost $35m (Grass/Open/45,000 seats/cookie cutter dimensions and 100 ratings all around)

Turf +$1m
Dome +$6m (includes turf)
Retractable Roof +$9m (includes grass)

Change in ratings: +$500k for each rating

Corporate Name Sponsor: -$7.5m

Interest Charges: 1% per year max of 6 year payment plan.

Delay till opening: 3 seasons from date of announcement.

If at 6 years, your stadium is not paid for, you will have to take out a loan to pay off the rest. In other words, I will subtract the remaining amount from your cash, and make it negative if necessary, to finish paying off the stadium.
