Unhappy Problem with wrong pitcher starting 1 game playoff

Our league has played its entire season, and our AL West is in need of a one game playoff to decide the champion. One team is CPU run, while the other is human owned. The owner sent in an export, and changed his pitcher for that game from his #3 guy to his #1 guy.

The pitching staff page is correct. It shows after the import that it is a four man rotation, and the next starter is starter #1 (the guy he wants). When I sim the day, the game starts starter #3 instead, and after the game when I check his teams pitching staff, it says its a 4 man rotation and next starter is #4.

I had backed up the league before this game, so when I noticed the error, I went to the back up and started again. I've done this 4 times now. Once I changed his starter #1 with his starter #3 (so that #1 was in the #3 spot..the spot that was starting even though it shouldn't be). I also changed his entire pitching rotation to a 3 man rotation with his #1 starter listed in all five slots.

Each time starter #1 will not start the game, and starter #3 starts in his place. In the instance where I listed starter #1 in all five slots, the game picked a reliever to start the game.

Can anyone help me out? Im sure my owner wants his #1 starter in there so he has a shot at the playoffs, and I've never seen a game act like this before.

Could it be that the starter is tired or didn't have enough rest ?

This really sounds like a tired pitcher issue. If the human managers pitcher is already tired (since he would be starting on 1 day rest!!) The computer won't start them. Besides its not realistic to start a pitcher on 1 day rest, I might tell the owner to pick a starter who isn't tired. (That would be the same as starting Randy Johnson on Monday and asking him to start (not just go in relief) again on Wednesday, which wouldn't happen).

Does the game list the correct starter on the schedule screen? If not somethings is screwy. The final suggestion would be to try putting the incorrect starter in every single spot on the pitching list and seeing what the game will do then. It might be the only way to force the #1 starter into the game.

Final option, which I don't remember if it will work, would be to click Play and manually set the #1 starter into the human owners lineup, then in the upper right hand corner click simulate, tell it to simulate until the end of the game and you should be alright. If that will work.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the input. The starter he wanted would have been pitching on 2 days rest (he threw 105 pitches in his last outing). I didn't think the game would flat out disallow something like that, but you learn something new everyday (:

Thanks again,

-G

I've noticed that quite often in the playoffs, in the schedule it will display one pitcher (the pitcher who wouldnormally play in a 5-man rotation) but in fact a different pitcher would pitch. Could this be part of the problem? Just a suggestion.
