Exclamation DOUBLEDAY FEDERATION - Signup

Over the past few weeks, I've been trying to come up with an idea for something with which to follow my RANDOM CHAOS thread, and after many hours of daydreaming and pondering (when I should have been working ), I've come up with what I think should be a good successor.

I've decided to run something with elements of Matt from TN's TIME WARP League as well as TigerFan's QUICK HOB REPLAY.

Here's how it will work:

I will run a league from 1901-2000 using Ankit's database and as many bells and whistles as I find bearable....actual ballparks...franchise movement and name changes...expansion....DH and free agency, etcetera.
1901 will start with actual rosters, but subsequent seasons will be drafted based on order of finish.
In addition to the actual MLB players, I will be adding ONE fictional rookie per year.
Each of these rookies will be a forum member.
Imagine seeing how you develop compared to the all-time greats: Ruth, Gehrig, Cobb, Joss, Mathewson, Rose, Aaron, Mantle, Bonds....
I prefer that any submission have the person's actual name, along with a non-offensive, original nickname. if you would like to remain anonymous, choose a realistic name....Please, nothing ridiculous like Joey Bag-O-Donuts, etc....
Each rookie will be set up with the following:
- Age 18 at the beginning of his rookie season - month and day by choice of forum member
- GOOD talents across the board 75 in batting/pitching talents across the board
- Numerical ratings of 3 across the board 30 in batting/pitching talents across the board
- C defense and .980 fielding % in the position of choice, and C arm if Catcher or OF 50 defense and arm
- D defense and .960 fielding % in a secondary position (unless you choose to be a pitcher) 35 defense
- C Speed and Stealing 50 Speed and Stealing
- C Sac Bunt and Bunt for Hit 50 Sac Bunt and Bunt for Hit
- Durable Injury rating (Hey, we should have some advantage, right??? I want to make sure everyone has a good chance at a long career).
- Normal Loyalty
- Sometimes needs winner
- Some Leader ability
- GREAT clutch performance
- Good Consistency
- Normal hitter type
- B rating as SP or RP (whichever you choose)
- D rating in the secondary pitching position (unless you choose to only be an SP or RP) 75 Durability if you choose to be SP, 50 Durability if you choose MR/CL
- Pitching velocity = 7 Pitching velocity = Whatever is assigned
- Groundball % = 50

*Note- with the change to OOTP6, I had to adjust some of the original setup criteria to reflect the 1-100 rating scale which I am now using. The changes in RED are from 1928 onwards

Debut years will be on a first-come first-serve basis. remember, only one fictional rookie per year, but there will be 100 openings. I will keep a list on this thread of which years are still available. If you submit a year that has already been taken, I will give you the closest available year.
If we end up needing a few entries, and submission have completely stopped, I'll just add rookies based upon fictional baseball characters (Roy Hobbs, Clew Heywood, Ricky Vaughn, Crash Davis, Nuke LaLoosh, Jake Taylor, Pedro Cerrano, ....)
For the actual historical rookies, the import settings will be the OOTP default.
I will begin the sim once I have fictional rookies signed up for 1901-25 and, if Random Chaos is still up, I will alternate updates with that league.
Updates will be yearly, with highlights from each season, notes on each fictional player (similar to Time Warp), and, when fictional players end their careers (either by retirement or otherwise), I will write a synopsis on each of them...similar to how TigerFan writes his summaries.
I will stop importing fictional forum rookies with the 2000 season, but will play out the dynasty until each forum rookie hascompleted their careers. From 2004 on, the draft pools will be fictional, but I will edit the names, positions and talents to reflect actual minor league prospects until I run out....at which point we will go with what is generated.
I expect the Dynasty to end around 2020.
Most likely, I'll be starting the actual sim in 3-4 weeks or so. This should keep me busy through the summer

Now, now, Mr. Campbell.... This is a family-oriented message board.

You start talking about your "endurance" and soon people will be chiming in with comments about "scoring" and "choking up", etc...

Better than Trojan Horse...at least you're modest.

Okay, this is going downhill and picking up speed.
