Post Crash between seasons... now what!?

Well, after about 15 years in my current career season, the game crashed while "Start[ing] New Season". The result: it is now January 1st. Everyone's contracts have been pushed back a year. There is no free agency, coach signing, or amateur draft process for this year. I tried "simming" a couple months to advance the date (up to March 7th), but it didn't kick in any of the offseason processes. The stats for the previous year (2015), have now been entered as 2016 stats (it jumps from 2014 to 2016 for everyone - there is no 2015 now), even tho the year is now 2016, and hasn't "started" yet. So, if I just sim thru the season again, everyone is going to have "double" the stats for 2016.

Is there any way to fix this, or have I just trashed my whole league?

another neat tweak: the button for stat displays says "Show 2015 stats/Show 2016 stats". When I click on it, I get the 2014 stats (for "2015") and the 2015 stats (for "2016"). Again, even tho the season hasn't started, the full year's stats from the previous year are there.

Backup your league.

Then try clicking reset season and see what happens then.

Well, I did a "RESET LEAGUE"... hope that's what u meant, I couldn't find a "Reset Season".

So, here's what I got:

Now, the data is 03/31/2016. The show 2015/2016 stats button is working properly, meaning no one has any 2016 stats, and shows 2015 stats. However, no one has any 2015 stats listed on their career stats tab (they *do* show on the "OVERALL" tab), and the 2015 stats showing on OVERALL match the 2014 stats on the Career Tab (and are, in fact, the stats from 2014). So, the computer dumped the 2015 stats completely.

Also, the guys I should have lost to free agency are still on my team, with one year left to go. The Free Agent pool *IS* full of dudes, but we've already passed free agency, rookie draft and spring training dates.

Anything else I can try at this point? I'd hate to lose a "year's worth" of data.

Hmm... they show up on the Overall tab... do they show up on the players card (not the career tab) as his 2015 stats?

If they do try setting up a season with no games and advance through the schedule (not sure what will happen) delete the playoffs if they are generated and try to advance to next season, maybe the stats will be re-written...

This is a complete shot in the dark, so please backup your league again before you try this... and as a word of caution I'm very skeptical about this working.

If they aren't showing up there than the data may be lost...

What are you calling the "player card"?

Maybe I can explain this better... Adrian Trevino won the MVP in 2015 going .343, 33 hr, 115 rbi. It shows up in his HISTORY section.

On his card under batting stats, overall it shows:

2016 0, 0, 0
2015 .306, 31, 110

On his card under batting stats, career it shows:

2012 .289, 5, 21
2013 .311, 21, 95
2014 .306, 31, 110
2016 0, 0, 0 (haven't started season yet)

These career stats are correct, except for missing 2015.

This is *after* the reset. Prior to the reset, the overall tab looks like this:

2016 .343, 33, 115 (really 2015's stats)
2015 .306, 31, 110 (really 2014's stats)

Career:

2012 .289, 5, 21
2013 .311, 21, 95
2014 .306, 31, 110
2016 .343, 33, 115

(Again, these are correct, but with the wrong year applied to the 2015 stats - and no 2015 entry).

Not sure if this gets us any closer to a solution...

I think at this point the best way to proceed will be to just play the 2016 season (without resetting)... Guys will have their stats doubled (which will screw up single-season records but I think I can reset those) for 2016, but since they are "missing" 2015 stats, their career totals will be correct.

Some other artifacts are generated because of this (no rookies, no free agents, etc.) but that will be a memory 10 seasons from now. It would be nice if there were more editing tools available for ootp, and this is one of those cases where I wish I had them (like stat editors, the ability to set the date, force drafts, etc. etc. etc... I could go on all day and if I wasn't too addicted to simming I might list some of these on suggested features).

Well, I tried what you suggested - simming a season with no games. That way the 2015 stats would show as 2016 stats, with a "missing" year but the single-season and totals would be correct.

Unfortunately, when I clear the schedule and generate a schedule with no games, every time the computer comes to a day with no games, it is generating a schedule for that day.

OK, I generated a schedule with 2 games, and that seems to have done the trick... So, after 2 games, the postseason starts... I deleted the schedule for the postseason, and selected sim postseason and it is rolling through the days. I just wonder if it's going to know when to stop and go to the next season.

well...

i had to reinstate the postseason schedule and sim the postseason, then the game went to the next season and now everything is "normal" except that the 2015 season is "gone", with the stats showing up as 2016 (and everyone got an extra 4 games).

Plus, award winners got their awards twice (once in 2015, and once in 2016).

People's ages are screwy and some of them may have lost a year off their career, but at least now I can move forward without too much backwards artifact and with the season stats mainly in place.

Thanks for the suggestion on whacking the schedule.

Heh, well one interesting side effect is that, for my troubles, my Giants, 1400+ wins in 14 seasons, will get the #4 pick in the Ammy draft by virtue of being 1-3 last season.

And you can just attribute the missing season to a nasty lockout by the owners...
