CJBL 1984 draft 1st rd done

For those running historical leagues, our 1984 1st round draft is complete. Thought some might like to view results. All rookies are edited.

Draft Order
)Cin-SP:Roger Clemens (No Brainer, best guy in the draft)
)Tor-OF:Kirby Puckett (Real tossup here between Puckett/Davis, time will tell who got the better player)
)Cle-OF:Eric Davis (5 tool, solid player)
)Atl-SPwight Gooden (The most fascinating player in the draft, big time potential...could be a steal at #4)
)Bal-SP:Bret Saberhagen (Solid, any other year most likely 1-2 pick)
)Cubs-SP:Jose Rijo (18yrs old and in time may surpass Clemens or Gooden as the best arm)
)Sea-SP:Joe Hesketh (Can start right away, will help the Mariners)
)LA-1B:Glenn Davis (Tough choice between Glenn or AL Davis....but after top 6 picks its a fill needs draft)
)Pitt-Danny Tartabull (Most talked about pick, has the skills, needs some seasoning)
)Cin-SP:Jimmy Key (Not a 1-2 Sp but will be a solid #3 guy)
)SF-SP Zane Smith. (Lots of SP's left, not sure if he was best of the bunch)
)CWS-SP:Tom Browning (I think a steal at #12)
)Wsh-C:Mickey Tettleton (Only picked this high due to lack of any Catchers in the draft, 100+bb's)
)Det-1b:AL Davis (Slipped some in draft, could make some owners regret not taking him)
)Min-LF:Kevin Mitchell (Pure power bat, should do well with Twins)
)Hou-SP:Mark Langston (Power and K's...needs some seasoning)
)Cin-CL:John Franco (only CL in draft, nice pick)
)Cin-MR-Dave Leiper (Great numbers, fills a need)
)Oak-SP:Jeff Robinson (I like him, nuff said)
)Cle-(SP) Mark Gubicza (Great pick, will develop well)
)Mil-OF:Ivan Calderon (Nice bat, may surprise)
)Bal-3b Kelly Gruber (I like this guy, almost took him at #19)
)Phil-3B Terry Pendleton (Wow, a real steal at #23)
)SD-OF Milt Thompson (has the tools, will most likely not hit for great avg in SD though)
)Cin-MR Clay Christiansen (His American Idol CD did well)
)KC-sp:Calvin Schraldi (Good pick, real potential)
