Trouble With Lahman

I've been having trouble with this Lahman database for some time. I keep thinking that I can figure it out, but at this point, I am ready to give up.

Here is the deal. I have the 4.5 version downloaded, and I have followed the instructions about extracting it to a file named C:\STATS, but when I go to create a league, it says the same thing everytime:

"Could not open database!"

I know that I must be doing something wrong, and I would appreciate any insight.

Have you gone into windows and looked inside of the "STATS" folder to see if perhaps when the files were extracted that another folder was created inside of the STATS folder that is preventing the game from seeing the database because it is "also" inside of that folder?

Simple solution IF this is the problem, copy all of the files inside of that folder into "ONLY" the STATS folder then see if it works.

That is one of the more common occurances (extraction creating another layer of folder to put the files in).

Another common occurance is that the csv files are open in another application (excel, word) and need to be closed.

Sorry guys for not getting back sooner, but I've been busy all week and the Lahman database was the last thing that I thought of.

OK Steve, when I go to STATS in Windows, I only have one file in it, and it is an ACCESS file titled: Lahman45.mdb

I think that I know what you guys are referring to, but this is something else. Any suggestions?

Ok, sounds like you have either d/l the wrong version of the database(should be the "generic" or "comma delimited one) or you have a bad d/l of the right one.

I just went and looked at the folder where I have my version of the database on my PC and counting the "readme" file there are 13 files in that folder, all are part of the proper database.

He's definitely got the wrong version of the database (.mdb is a Microsoft database file (Access)) you need a bunch of .csv files, follow the links provided to get the proper version.
