Post Pitcher gets a win for doing nothing

If this has been mentioned before I apologize. I scanned the titles of the first page of items but didn't see anything to match.

This is probably not a big deal but moreso a warning to others.

I had a pitcher warmed up (I use the warm up option in games I play). And I slid him into the pitcher's slot while my offense was up (AL with the DH). I figured he'd just be ready to go. Well in the situation I was in it was the bottom half of the 9th or later (not relevant). My offense got the winning run home and the guy I put into the pitching role got the win even though he had never taken the mound in the game.

Should not have happened BUT you probably shouldn't have put the pitcher into the game at that point, wait till they hit the field again.

This occurred because you but the guy in the game and then your team took the lead, so the game (correctly) assigned the win to the pitcher who was in the game at the point when his team took the lead.

Good example of why pitcher's win totals can be totally meaningless. I love how a pitcher can come in for an inning, blow a lead, then have his team take another lead, and he gets the win. Not complaining about OOTP, this happens in MLB too.

To be the pitcher of record one must...

1 Face a batter, or
2 Record an out (can be done w/o a BPF)

It's possible to get a blown save without doing one of those things (run scoring due to SB, WP, or PB), but not a loss. Wins, saves, and holds require that the pitcher record an out.

The simplest fix would be to lock out pitching changes while batting (even batting another pitcher for a pitcher is considered pinch-hitting after all)
