Why So Cheap?

By all means this is not a complaint that the game is only $20. However, I am just curious as to why this game is so much cheaper than OOTP and TBCB. Is this due to the fact that this is the 1st version of the game?

I'm going to assume it's because A. It is the first first, B. It doesn't have a huge fan base yet, and C. It isn't as huge a program as OOTP.

$20 is an amazing price for an amazing game.

I agree that it's cheap because it's an unknown quantity to the developers right now...they can't project sales reliably on a game that is the first of its kind.

I also think it's a bargain because it is probably re-using a lot of OOTP code on development, stats and team AI. However, there seem to be some tweaks that may be related to whatever work is underway with the NEW ootp engine (at-bat options, ratings listed to 100 etc). Yum.

Can't wait to play this game.

I am glad its only 20 dollars. I might be able to buy it =]! I hope ITP stays at 20 dollars!

It's well worth the $20...trust me.

Basically, this game is a passion of Markus and a dream of his to combine RPG with baseball. He wanted to give as many guys and gals the chance to pick up the game and see what it's like. I'm sure future versions will be more.

And there we have it, THIS is the reason it is only $20. Nobody (except the dev. team and beta-testers) know much about this game. People are generally more willing to take a 20 risk then a $45. And at this point, buying this game is just that, a risk.

Note: my last statement is not meant to imply that the game will be bad, a risk, by definition, could turn out to be good, but we don't know ahead of time.

It's a great game, well worth the 20 bucks. My only complaint is that I was a first round pick and yet I suck, hitting .190 in single A.
