The Jamaica League is a new Out of the Park Baseball online league.
Set on the Caribbean island of Jamaica, the league has fictional players. There are no finances, DH, or interleague play. Ratings are talent-only. The JL website and forum are online but basic; we’re developing them now, they will have full features. Everything started just two weeks ago. Sixteen teams make four divisions in two leagues. Eleven teams are open now. When all JL teams have owners, a computer dispersal draft will fill rosters. First sim should be before New Years 2004. To apply to own a team in the JL, email me: jberry at mm.st Jesse Berry |

I love the color choice for your Web site! That shade of brown seems to set the tone quite well.

Will the players be paid or will they receive ganja as compensation?

Akrobat, I thought you were saying ‘The league’s brown website mocks the skin color of native Jamaicans; or it is, at the least, insensitive.’
I’m glad to hear that your compliment was sincere. Sorry I misinterpreted you. |

Satchel, Albert runs 'For the Love of the Game' which is a tribute online league to the old Negro Leagues. I am sure there was nothing negative implied by his comment.

I respect Albert and consider him a local OotP guardian of the spirit and history of negro baseball. That’s why I was shocked and dismayed when (to my perception) he was accusing me of racism (or insensitivity).
I over-reacted, but before I did, I closely examined what he’d said and I concluded he was taking a jab. I was wrong. ![]() I apologize, and I thank everyone for checking out this post and the league. Please continue to do so.

Jesse does an excellent job of running the NPBL, and will be a fine commish in the JamaicaLeague. There aren't many talent-only leagues so this is your chance to get in on the gorund floor.

Forgive my gritty paranoia.
Our league is one of peace and fun. |

The Jamaica League now has twelve owners. One owner has deferred choosing a team, so we have five free squads and room for four more GMs.
open clubs with market info: Lucea Gold this town has the best sunsets in the Caribbean, and the most luxurious resorts. Mandeville Bauxers these dogs live among the island’s south bauxite (aluminum ore) deposits. Maypen Iguanas arid city in central south Jamaica, where big lizards roam. Ochorios Jazz exotic old Spanish city, home of the big jazz festival. Port Antonio Tuna the career fishermen are here; they live and love their Tuna. First JL sim will be around New Year’s. Jesse did you run the Laserus Destroyers in LBA? Cause I swear I remember you being listed as the GM before I took them over. Sorry this has nothing to do with your league.

LBA
I did run Laserus in 1903, just for that one season. I’m happy to see that you led them to the playoffs.
The LBA helped inspire the Jamaica League. |

I also am in the NPBL that is Commished by Jesse. He does a outstanding (and fair) job with that league. As a result we have a great core of active owners. I see no reason why the Jamaica League would not be the same. Never having been in a "Talent- only" league I'm looking forward to the challenge.
I'd add also that Jesse does not run a static league, what you see is what you get, but rather it's always in a state of flux, with upgrades, new features and improvments. |

Jesse, good luck with this.
I love non-American leagues... I sent in an app, though I've never participated in a Talent Only league.
