I'm not familar with ootp5, but is this possible?
The commish of the league is the Boston Red Sox, he has two 120 win seasons, and I just noticed that his Broadcasting revenue jumped 27 Million from the previous year, and I am wondering, is this possible? (Most other teams that made the playoffs and had over 100 wins only went up maybe 5 million.)
http://mvpbl5.netfirms.com/ This is his Financial Report, just reply with what you think. And if your a OOTP Developer, is this possible, or is the commish cheating? If you suspect your commish of cheating, you shouldn't remain in the league.

I don't want to quit, it seems to be a great sim, the sim looks like it may last, but I don't want to confront him about it, because I don't know enough about OOPT5, that is why I posted here. And if he is cheating, I will make his ass change it to some low ass number.

I've never seen a jump that large in broadcasting revenue from one year to the next before.

Also, I'm not sure game generated contract revenues can get up to $68 million. Your local and national T.V. deals are based on your fan loyalty and your fan market, and I believe the most you can get is $48 million. Not positive on that number, but I know it isn't $68 million.

Yeah, I have never seen broadcasting revenue that high. Unless, of course, it's been edited.

the commish claims he doesn't even check that stuff, and that he isn't sure how it got that high. But he lost 7 mill last year, gained 10 mill in payroll, I am sure he was looking for an easy way out of debt.

I would suspect that something is not right and that the total may have been edited. I went through 110 seasons/ 7 leagues and the most I have seen is 43,000,000 in any of my seasons and the biggest jump in one year was only 5,000,000 (2.5 local jump and 2.5 national)........If the commish is editing the broadcast revenue, it should make you wonder what else he may be editing.....I always export the previous years stats using the exporter and put everything in to a database so I can see if anything looks weird...Those numbers just seem to high......
I had a team that was at 100 for fan interest, won the championship 14 out of 19 years, winning the league 18 times in the 19 years, and the broadcasting revenue was only 42,000,000 and the teams started at 22,000,000 in the first season....biggest jump was only 5 million in any one year, most jumps were 2.5 million....... |

Just looking at the numbers the owner was looking at a 20million loss for he next year if his broad cast revenue stayed at the 41 million mark or lower.
Not saying he edited the data but I would lean towards that thought looking at the financials... |

I agree. I think the broadcasting numbers are too high to be unedited.

Hopefully the commish will either: 1) Deny it, then fix it to what it should have been. or 2) Admit it, set it to what it was or 3) Set it to what it was and raise everybody elses 27 million.

I don't know what the largest increase I've seen, the largest DROP was $18M but that was from "originally edited totals" for a league where they were all started at the same point in a league.

So basically, he cheated, his fan interest is only 90/100, although he won over 120 games, it seems there is no possible way to jump 27 million, so I guess tomorrow I will talk with him, and if he fires me, his league is going down with me

If his revenue went up it probably was only 2.5 million, it depends on if both his national and local expired or just one of the two. At most it would be 5 million, but it appears most of the league took a revenue hit so I would tend to believe his revenue stayed the same or went up 2.5 million..........NO WAY 27 million....
The owner needed the 27 million as a quick fix to his debt problem............ Maybe the team owns the television station in the local market and just "shifted" cash to help out a sister company!!!!! |

lol....check out my team(mariners) mad cash and some cheap young talent. The GM before me screwed up Gil Meche cuz he didnt pay attention to the sim and he had a 3 man rotation. And I changed from the Tigers to Mariners mid-2004 season. I couldn't resist fixing up this team

Actually the teams doesn't look bad and you have the resources to build on (as long as your league doesn't have a salary cap). Drop a note on how this team does.

There is no salary cap, I tried building it around Carlos Delgado, getting guys who can hit for average all around him, figured if guys get on base he could have a career season. But if he goes down....my team is doomed.
I will try to post on here how I do, but I rarely post here unless I have questions which is once in every once in awhile. But yea, the 1st sim is tomorrow, so hopefully I can remember to mention how I did. So I'm curious to know....did you confront him on it yet?
And if he is cheating - and as was noted really even if you suspect it - you probably should quit. |

I'm bored. I'll run a little test on it to see two things.
a) I'll have really crappy broadcast revenue ($20M) to begin, having the contracts end b) I'll then ensure just before the season ends that the team is at the lowest market ratings, and see what the contracts go to. c)Sim that year, have contracts end, have HIGHEST ratings, see what they go to. This will show at least approximate largest possible increase AND highest possible money. |
