I'm one of the ones who has the lag problem when I play out my games.
One thing I've noticed is that the game pauses until the Out-of-Town scoreboard switches games. As soon as the scoreboard moves on, then the keystroke will go into effect. Anyone else notice this pattern?

Okay. Just played two games, one to watch the out-of-town scoreboard in relation to the pause, and, when I saw the correlation, once with out-of-town games turned off.
That's where it happens. After the keypress, the game goes and sims the out-of-town games. Frequently - very frequently - this is not an instantaneous event. The pause goes away with out-of-town games turned off. I'm gonna have to adjust my eye contact "orbit" to take this into account. Until now, I've not looked at the out-of-town scoreboard unless something happened to catch my eye. Now, I've got to look at it every batter.

Good catch! Seems like you found the problem. I guess the out of town score board may have been one of the things causing the high CPU usage. So Markus may have adjusted it, and now high CPU usage is low. The side effect is a delay, when the score board is active. I say this because when we had the problem with high cpu usage, we never had a delay in the game like we do now.

I was about to go test this on my system when I realized that I have been testing various changes and still finding the slowdown while playing exhibition games. So there were no other games being simmed.
Edit- I just tried it anyway, and still had the slowdown. So either the scoreboard thing is not the cause or we are having different lag problems. [ 04-07-2002: Message edited by: JML ]</p> |

I noticed that after I installed a new virus definition for my antivirus that the game slowed to a crawl. After ****ing around will all sorts of things I ended up uninstalling my virus program and then the game got it's normal speed back. I tried a million different things and this seems to have been what was causing the problem.

Lag
Did anyone ever solve this problem?
I never had it before, and I don't think I did anything different, but my new historical league features the dreaded lag. Could it be the 1000 player portraits I am using? Please help! Brian Cypher74@aol.com |
