Okay, I'm a computer guru and I can't get this to work...maybe you guys can....
I'm running OOTP 5.14a on a Windows XP Machine and here is what happened. 1) I created a new (custom) league. 2) Went through, did some of the preseason stuff and didn't like how it was shaping out, so I quit the game, and went to the folder and deleted the recently created .lg league folder. It was my own stupidity to delete the league without opening another one within OOTP first, but we all make mistakes... 3) OOTP now doesn't have a "last viewed" league to open up, and it doesn't know to default and open up another league, so it opens up a "league" with no date, schedule, awards, players, nothing. 4) Anytime I try to open up any league, create a new league, restore a league, or even reset the "Empty League" that I'm in, I get the following error: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\400 Software Studios\OOTP5\OOTP5.exe abnormal program termination Like I have said, I've tried everything I can think of, besides reinstalling, and I'm doing my utmost best to figure out how to get this working again, because I don't have the install files anymore (my hard driver crashed on my home server so I lost it) and I"m still connected on dial up. I even tried renaming one of my current leagues to "New League.lg" in hopes that it would see that and recognize that as a default file, and to my dismay, it didn't. If anybody has any answers, post, please. If you need anymore information, post, please. Thanks |

Renaming any league but Career 2003 to the default certainly does the trick, as it has happened to me quite a few times. Anyway, the default can be changed (OOTP>data>setup), but better back up that file first.

Are you referring to the setup.dat file in that folder? I attempted to change it within that and it made OOTP look even stranger when I opened it up...the skin decided to disappear....haha

Now, whenever I try to apply a skin again and quit the game, along with the abnormal termination error I get the folloying error:
The instruction at "0x77e778ce" referenced memory at "0x01054f14". The memory could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the program I think I made a booboo. :-X |

Take a look at the default league in setup and rename one to that or use the same number of characters for a new default.

Did you back up the file? Are you writing down the extension (lg) as well?

This is ALL of the information is the setup.dat file:
New League.lg Wood Maple.skn as stupid as it is, the Wood Maple Skin no longer loads after I changed New League.lg from Offline.lg, and it won't change back. |

OK, I take that you didn't back the file up. Lets try this: rename Offline.lg to EBL.lg and use this file:
