Post Help a brotha out....

I seem to have a bit of a problem. I decided to format my HD and install Windows XP. Before I did this, I backed up my OOTP4 season and burned it onto a cd. When I installed XP and re-downloaded OOTP4 (using one of my precious licenses), I decided to import the backup files from my previous league into my newly installed OOTP4. Apparently, I angered the OOTP4 Gods... The program immediately shut giving me a very general error that really gives no information. I think that when the backup file was imported, it also imported the executable again and through some disagreement, the two executables aren't getting along. I'm wondering if anyone knows what extra files I should get rid of in any of the folders to try and salvage my e-License cuz I dont wanna have to waste another. Please help. Thanks.

Well to salvage your e-license you can always un-license the game first through the control panel, but I'm not sure exactly how to fix the other problem. What files do you have in your folder, or which ones did you copy?

I actually know this issue for sure - when you back up files onto CD they become "READ-ONLY" files, and as soon as the game tries to write to any of them the game will crap out. This also applies to any programs or files that are copied to a CD in this way, not just OOTP.

To fix the problem go to each OOTP4 folder (on your hard drive), highlight all the files, right-click on them, choose PROPERTIES, and uncheck the "READ ONLY" box. Do this to every file in every folder of your OOTP4 directory and all should work fine again. To avoid this in the future I think zipping up your leagues and burning the zipped up league files onto a CD should work well with no read-only issues.

Edit: "highlight all the files" = choose the menu option "select all files". It would take forever to manually uncheck each single read-only file .
