Some of my expectations for the game...

I have to say Title Fight 2001 was a huge disappointment for me. It was very expensive, buggy and put together quite poorly.

After applying all the patches I found that I get fights stopped on cuts really frequently, inconsistencies in the stats, inconsistencies in the fight commentary and many other issues.

With that said I am obviously a bit leary of dishing out money for the updated version. But... because I love boxing so much and want a good sim sooo bad I'll be one of the first to fork over my money. I think the Trunzo's are making an honest effort to do it right this time and the OOTP guys seem to have their act together too.

I think if the game has no show-stopping bugs and has the features to create a managable universe, then i'll be heaven.

I think owners of TF2001 should only have to pay $20 for the game, tho. We really deserve the discount. I read somewhere on these boards that we do get something free. Like a free game or something. Anyone know what it is?(I hope it's not the trivia game- most of us could have told you guys that would never sell)

Finally, the people bitching over the delays are most likely suffering from down syndrome so I can't get too upset, but guys try to grow up and get a life.

Well...I hope Mr. Trunzo got it right this time.

Why is it you can bitch, but you put down others for doin the same thing, ppl just want the game out, how can you fault that.

I guess, being that I also am a designer, I understand the stress involved in releasing something that is not as good as it should be.

And I don't think that I was bitching... Actually I think I was pretty neutral.

I remember Front Page Sports Football '99 being released way too early- The fallout ultimately led Sierra having to scrap their entire sports line. Games need to be released when they are done, not when a minority of the public demands it.

Supposedly those who had purchased Title Fight 2001 directly from the development company will be getting a copy of Title Bout Championship Boxing at no charge. That should satisfy you some if in fact that ends up being the case.

I'll be shocked if that's the case. Can't bitch anymore if it's free.

One of the brothers mentioned this not too long ago but I couldn't find the exact thread. I was surprised to hear about it as well and also disappointed that I never bought Title Fight 2001. O'well. We shall see soon enough hopefully.

As I recall, it didn't apply to *everbody* that bought TF2001, only the people who bought one of the few remaining copies earlier this year.

I really don't think there should be a discount for owners of the 2001 version. It's a different publisher and developer. Really the only similarity between the games would be the involvement of the Trunzo brothers and their approach to the sport of boxing. A discount wouldn't be fair to OOTPDevelopments IMO.

I agree, I still play fbpro97 and 98 after all these years. That's one of the great things about sports sims... If they are done well they have considerably more longevity than the latest and greatest graphical game. And that's coming from a 3d animator!

I think sims tend to be much more tedious to produce cause a stupid little bug in, say, the stats can be a show stopper for many people.

Generally, people that like sims are obsessive so that always needs to be taken into account. First impressions with them are sooo important.

That's exactly how I feel, BT. I'm an editor and manager, and I would much rather have things come out right by spending the extra time. That's why I'm taking the time to post fixes and data on the fighter list for Andreas. I will enjoy the game a lot more if I'm not tripping over so many little miscues.

Unfortunately I don't have any games that I was a huge contributer, but I did do contracting work with firaxis on civIII a few years ago. The past 2 years I worked 'in house' for a company and did all their graphics related stuff(needed a more reliable pay check). I've also made a bunch of models for various projects.

I'm getting ready to send my resume/portfolio all over the country again to see if I can snag a full time game-related position. Hopefully sometime 1st half next year i'll be doing that stuff full time again.
