Ohio State might get the opportunity to defend its national title after all.

Michigan is going to beat Ohio state, so this means nothing.

Did you see the asswhomping that WVU gave Pitt? Why not WVU? (flashes to '93) Oh, never mind.

The top of the college hierarchy increasingly supplies little interest to me. The championship is a joke.

I think Michigan will beat Ohio St making this point moot anyway but the New York Times' computer ranking USC 5th is ludicrous. I hate USC as much as anyone but no way you can argue they are only the 5th best team in the country right now.

I have to agree with the Mayor. USC is number 2 right now. No question. But all of it doesn't matter. Oklahoma is whopping everyone and they look untouchable. I think everyone is fighting for second place.

Well actually playing Oklahoma in the title game will probably cost the team their #2 ranking after the loss. So they are battling for the #2 only to end up #4 or #5 I really think that the only team that has a chance to stay with OU is USC and it stinks that there is even a possiblity that they could lose out on the chance to play.

Even if Oklahoma loses in the title game, they'll be the best team in the nation. It would be an abberration.

I truly wonder what the BCS ranking would be if OU lost the title game. I know the team that beat them would win the championship, but would they rank ahead of them? Hmmmmm.... I wonder

The Mayor is correct on both his points... but if by some miracle Ohio State actually does beat Michigan, I think they will deserve their spot in the title game.

Look at it this way: if the teams win out, USC will have defeated one decent non-conference opponent in Auburn and one really good conference opponent in Washington State.

Ohio State will have defeated NC State (probably as good as Auburn) and Bowling Green (definitely better) in non-conference, and ranked teams Iowa and Purdue in conference. Oh, and a top ten team on the road in a rivalry game (Michigan).

Do I think Ohio State is anywhere near as good as USC? No. Should they be in the national championship game if they win out? Absolutely yes.

Wow, why does this resemble last season?? Ohio state CAN't beat Michigan and they could NEVER win the National Championship and if they did they STILL wouldn't be the best team. Well guess what? They have a terriffic chance to beat Michigan, if they do that they deserve to be in the championship game, period. If they beat Oklahoma guess what? That makes them BETTER period. They would be the best team in the nation. I have never seen a team get such little respect. Under Cooper they used to beat everyone by 5 touchdowns and then choke once a year and not win anything but now that they win just about all of their games but don't blow every team out of the water they don't get any respect, its ridiculous.

OSU is not good. Have you seen them play? Not just saying this because I'm an UM fan, but get real. There is no way that OSU should be where they are at right now. Kinda reminds me of when the Bears went 13-3 the other year and everyone thought they were a good team.

When Michigan actually shows up to play (as in, not lay an Oregon and Iowa) they could give Oklahoma a run for their money.

Don't believe me? Just look what they did to Purdue and Michigan State. They were both CRUSHED (if you watched you know). Not too mention what they did to Notre Dame (though they arn't that good are they).

They lost to Oregon (special teams, blocked punt TD)
They lost to Iowa (4 blocked punts does that too you)

And they SHOULD have won both, and Iowa is a damn good team and they still could have won (coaching, special teams) despite 4 blocked punts. Both were road games.

Ok, do I think they would beat Oklahoma...no...but in 10 games I think they would pull out 3 or 4, and they would all be close.

Coming into the Purdue game the Bucks were leading the nation in rushing yards against at like 49 yards a game! Come on that's a joke! To play in the Big 10 and average that many yards against is awesome. These types of numbers don't lie, the Bucks are a great defensive team. On the other side of the ball they are poor to average depending on the week. But we all know what wins championships . . . .

PREDICTION:

OSU 13
UM 10

OSU beats OU in the Sugar Bowl
OSU 24
OU 21
* Nugent kicks the game winner at the end of regulation

49 yds. a game. That's great, but have they played a team with a good running game. Let's take a look at the stats.

W vs. NW - NW has no air attack, so any team can play the run all game. NW still gets 121 yds.

L vs. WIS - fairly balanced attack, run for 141 yds.

W vs. IOWA - held them to 66 yds.

W vs. IND - they just suck so no surprise here that they were dominated

W vs. PSU - 3rd weakest run attack in Big 10, 33 yds. on ground but 253 in the air

W vs. MSU - worst running team in Big 10, run for 5 but throw for 373

W vs. PUR - another team w/ balanced attack gives OSU trouble, 106 running and 249 passing

So by looking at the stats, Yes OSU has a great overall avg. because the totally dominated the super weak Big 10 teams. However, teams that could not run did throw all over the field. This week, OSU will play the most balanced attack in Michigan. They run as well as WIS and throw like MSU. This has LOSS written all over it for this overachieving team.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard, there has never been a team in the history of the big 10 that has went 10-1 and wasn't good. Thats just obsurd. You must be saying this because your a UM fan because there is no other logic that supports that statement.

What about Iowa last year...that was a pretty "not good" team....
Or Wisconsin a few years back...

there have been some...It all comes down to the luck of scheduling, teams can duck 2 of the top 4 teams in any given year (not to mention names...) and get home games vs the other 2....
