League settings for all you dynasty managers

I am just starting on a new historical league beginning in 1903 and have a question for everyone that has played OOTP5 for a number of generations and the league totals.

Do you adjust the league totals "every" year? If so, are your leagues evolving naturally as you would expect, or do there seem to be any abnormal statistical seasons?

I was thinking that I keep the same league totals from year to year and only modify them at crucial points in history (such as 1920 when an offensive explosion occurred, or expansion of teams, etc.)

This would, I assume, keep everyone on a level playing field and provide a good stable statistical environment.

Does anyone see a problem with this model?
