Ping: Bill Callahan

Please see me in my office on Monday, 7am.

Sincerely,

Al Davis

So is Art Shell or Mike White available to coach? The self implosion of the Faiders is really making my football season.

Thye will probably take Dennis Green but they need a coach like Pardells. A guy that will come in and not worry about upsetting older players or babysitting rookies. A coach that has the attitude do it my way or go play elsewhere. A coach that will tell C.Woodson you dont worry about the play calling you just do your job playing defense and excuting the plays to the best of your ability.

They need a coach who isn't scared of the Detroit Lions.

It won't be Dennis Green. Green is only interested in a job where he has full control. Obviously Oakland would not be that location. I look for Green to head to Atlanta. As for Oakland, I expect Callahan will make it through what is essentialy a lost season here. Davis will likely go after big names but after he gets turned down by everyone will promote from within.

This seems to be a clichéd, Raider-hater’s stereotypical post -- very unlike your normally well thought-out posts. Do you really believe Al Davis was running the team when Gruden was here? Do you really think Al is making all the roster decisions and play call decisions with Callahan/Trestman/Bresnahan at the helm?

I think Dennis Green is an obvious candidate. He'll have to be brought in to jumpstart the offense and handle the new additions of Terrell Owens and Kurt Warner.

Bank on it-D. Green, TO, and Warner (or Brunell) with Eli Manning being drafted with the Raider’s first pick and Justin Fargas becoming the feature back.

LOL

I don't hate the Raiders, but it is well known that one of the main reasons Gruden left was because he didn't have full control. I think Davis has eased off in recent years, but he still is very much a part of the fray. Someone like Green wants 100% control of the entire organization and I have serious doubts that Davis would give that to anyone. That said, Jones gave in to Parcells so anything can happen. I would still be surprised to see Green go to Oakland.

Denny Green in Oakland ... HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA ... he'd get eaten ALIVE. I'm rooting for the Faiders to hire him though, I'd love to see that debacle.

Why wouldn't the Nutty Professor be able to handle coaching in Oakland? I don't get it.
HR, I was going to go with the Parcells/Jerry Jones angle after your next rebuttal but you beat me to the punch.

Jerry Porter was in my store today and he said that he was looking forward to being a Jet next year. Not sure if he was joking or was semi-serious, but that sure wouldn't be good for the Rai-Duds

IMO we are best off abandoning that sinking ship that is Off Topic to the rats infesting it and just starting a whole new Baseball Forum from scratch.

I don't think Porter has the ability to leave the Raiders after this season.

for as nutty and pompous and egotistical Jones is, he is at least semi-coherent enough to be able to make SOME intelligent decisions. Davis is just off his rocker, Hugh-Hefner-level crazy.

It'd be pretty careless of you to put 100% of the success last year on the coach, and then put 100% of the blame on the coach the next year. The players play too you know

That might be good enough for the Eli Manning pick. Of course the Chargers will be 2-14 so maybe not.
