severe crash issues

Purchased & installed OOTP 4 yesterday. Installed Rolen's edited league -over- Career 2002.lg due to conflicts while loading that league. Game functioned properly for about five minutes thereafter.

Game crashes at various points: clicking on buttons, attempting to save, scrolling too quickly.

Running the game in the correct display mode (1024*768, 32-bit), system tray is empty, power saving is disabled, DirectX 8.0, screensavers turned off, etc. System specs: AMD Athlon 733, 128 MB RAM, 600 MB free space.

Have rebooted, reloaded, attempted various screen resolutions and options (as of now, full screen and 3d-enhanced modes are turned OFF).

Possible solutions?

wow, that's tough. so you just played 5 mins and suddenly started to crash when you clicked buttons and such? have you tried d/l the game again? may be that the file was corrupted. hope this helps.

Don't use Rolen's files until the game is stable with its default settings. You may want to try DirectX 8.1a but I kinda doubt that would help you.

Does this happen with other programs or just OOTP 4?

I've had occasional crashes with other software, but nothing like this. This is very extreme, usually occurs with every save.

I just have to add that 600 MB free space is not very much, if you have multiple leagues that kind of space can get used up fast and the result will be a reboot kind of crash that is not only bad for the game but also not great for your system either (no crash is). Can you clear up some hard drive room (I always have at least a gig free per drive), reboot and then try the game again to see the difference? Running disk doctor if you have had recent crashes is also very wise, and if you have not defragged your hard drive for awhile running that will also help your system performance. The game is fairly demanding on a system and if you are not far beyond the minimum specs then having your system running efficiently will help a lot.

Good luck and let us know if any of the advice was helpful in your situation. There are other idea's too but those would be my first idea's if those symptoms happened to me.
