Openings in the Elite Baseball League

The Elite Baseball League - EBL - has a few vacancies and is looking for solid, dedicated owners.

The teams available are the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Manchester Bombers,
the Cincinnati Red Stockings and the Chicago Cubs.

The EBL is one of the toughest around, with some of the best and brightest owners going (Wedge, Gomez, Miskowski, Vandevisse, Fuerst, Grassi, Derby, Mann, Wolicki to name just a few). It is also one of the best leagues in terms of participation, as last season the ownership hit an astounding 93% participation level (sim in and sim out).

We are about to start our 9th season, and the league originally started as an OOTP v3 league under Heath Peters in November, 2001, with 30 teams involved in an initial draft. In May, 2003, prior to the 2007 season, we moved to OOTP v5. The league has 18 games of inter-league play and the American League uses the designated hitter, while the National League does not.

As a commish I am a firm believer in participation, as teams that win are invariably those whose owners give a damn and do whats necessary to either get their team to the top or keep it there. As such, for each sim, I require at least an email saying "no changes". This lets me know that at least the owner took a look at his team between sims.

I am an active owner in the league (Vancouver Armageddons) and have been since the beginning. My team is a regular season powerhouse, thanks to one hell of a fine initial draft (one of only a few teams to go exclusively with prospects) and some crafty trading, but "The Curse" always, without fail, cripples me come playoff time, almost comically finding ways to lose when it matters most (that damn karma thing).

If anyone is interested in either team please check out the league site, the rules, and then get back to me.

When sending me an email, let me know your OOTP experience, any leagues you have been in or are currently in. Please include URLs of the past or present leagues, as I prefer to get recommendations about prospective owners from other Commishes or owners I know in order to avoid constant team turnover.

Cheers,

Dean Gordon

the Pirates and Cincinnait are still available... I dont think the Red Stockings will get an owner before the season starts, but the Pirates are a damn good team and could easily contend with a tweak or two...
