College OOTP winding down third season
It's probably the biggest league here, but we're learning that it's also the league that loses the most members from year to year.
Sooooo ... if you're interested in a college-style baseball league, come by and check out http://www.collegeootp.ootp-leagues.com/ or e-mail me at Richnamanda@earthlink.net Here are the first two days results of the CWS: Day One Duke 1, West Virginia 0 Texas A&M 5, Rice 2 Maine 9, Louisiana Tech 0 Fullerton State 2, Northwestern 0 Day Two Rice 3, West Virginia 2 Northwestern 2, Louisiana Tech 1 Duke 6, Texas A&M 2 Fullerton State 8, Maine 7 (10 innings) Day Three No. 5 Texas A&M (39-30) at No. 3 Northwestern (39-28) No. 4 Rice (40-27) at No. 7 Maine (36-31) Winners'-bracket final No. 6 Fullerton State (39-30) at No. 8 Duke (33-31) Eliminated: No. 1 West Virginia (41-26) and No. 2 Louisiana Tech (38-27) The biggest news was Maine's second-round loss. With Irv Young on the mound, Maine led 5-0 through eight innings, but Fullerton State managed to tie with five runs in the last of the ninth. Maine came back with two runs in the 10th, but Fullerton won it with a two-run homer. We could have our third straight champion from the west coast. Go Duke!

new url that works, hopefully
collegeootp.ootp-leagues.com
Just copy and past that and you should be able to get there. We're about to have open recruiting for the new teams. If you're interested, please e-mail me at the above address. Cal St.-Fullerton became the third left-coaster to win the College World Series, besting the Maine Black Bears in an "if necessary" game. "Cobb Goes to College" is collegiate-style baseball and we're using players in the next draft who played major-league baseball circa 1907-12. Ty Cobb, for whom the league is named, chose to go to Auburn over Georgia and Georgia Tech and will be a sophomore this season for the Tigers. War Eagle and all that.

The Blue Devils were so close this year (damn Maine/Fullerton).
AND the champions didn't come from the Pac-10 for the first time - doubly dissapointing. Come join it - the Pac-10 is needing owners for Arizona State, UCLA and USC (if I'm wrong someone correct me quickly). It's not too labour intensive and its great fun. Recruiting is unlike any other OOTP league. |
