Just purchased OOTP last night and my system goes into a complete lock-up whenever I try to print reports from within the game.
My system: Pentium II-350 320 megs RAM Voodoo 3 video card HP Deskjet printer DirectX 8 --game video with D3D and Full screen ENABLED. My desktop video is 800x600 but the game switches to 1024x768 (which is good). I've tried switching the desktop to 1024x768 but run into the same lockup problem. Has anyone run into this scenario, and if so, please help. Thanks, Steve |

It sounds like video card or monitor limits are causing the printing error and that makes sense. The workaround is to output the reports you want to print into HTML format (they will be saved in the OOTP4 folder) and print from your browser instead. An extra step but worth it to avoid the crashes.
Remember to give each html report a unique name or the game will over write the previous one. |

I discovered that if I run in Windowed mode with D3D enabled, and switch my desktop resolution to 1024x768 before I start the game, everything is fine and reports print as they should.
It seems that running in full-screen mode is the greatest cause of the error. So, I can work around the printing problem but we shouldn't have to take extra steps to accomplish such a simple task as printing. Of course, if I'd just bite the bullet and get myself a 17" monitor, I could run in 1024 at all times and not worry about this! Thanks for the reply, Killebrew. I appreciate the help. If anyone else has light to shed, please do. Steve |
