just about ready to enter the realm of online leagues
I have been playing OOTP5 for only 5 months now. However I have logged in many hours in solo play. I would like to try the realm of online league play in the future. I am not in a hurry and I would like to get into a league that will not likely fold in a year or two. Is there a place I can look for established online leagues? Maybe get on a waiting list. I am a committed OOTP player and would like to get into a quality league if possible.

I don't know of a site that lists how long a league has been in existence. There are a couple of sites that list leagues:
400rc OOTPLinks

Here's a rock solid league that doesn't have a lot of open spots. But put your name on the waiting list for sure. You can also help Assitant GM a team, help you get a feel for the league

Wow! Scotto313 is from Lyndhurst. Practically next door to me. I'm in South Euclid.
Nice to see that more than one person in the Cleveland area is an OOTP fan. |

Scotto,
There are several SOLID, established leagues that have openings from time to time. Sometimes, it's a matter of timing. Some require joining a waiting list or participating in another manner. There are a couple threads out there in this forum detailing what kind of leagues to watch out for. If you have any doubts or specific questions, PM me or any of the regulars around here.

Thanks for the help. Antonin, look for me shopping at the Giant Eagle in S.E. with my OOTP5 T-shirt.

If you want to maximize your chances of joining a league that isn't going to fold, I would suggest:
First, decide what kind of league you want to join to narrow down your search- current real players, fictional players, historical players. Go the fictional or historical route unless you're dead set on current, real players- fictional/historical leagues fold a lot less frequently. 1. Look for a league that has already simmed at least 3 or 4 seasons, resist the temptation to join a newly forming league. 2. Don't join a league just because it has openings. Get your name on the waiting list of every league you can find that looks good, you'll get in somewhere. Like LivnLegend said, most people would be happy to tell you about what leagues they are in and can recommend if you PM them.

The best leagues are always the ones that the commissioners hype up the most.

![]() I always felt the USBA got little to no hype because I have never advertised for any openings and we have been devoid of any scandals. We post an occasional news story here (like USBA Champion announcements) but Brad Vest's Rudy Cox Diary has really increased the awareness of the league. The league owners are some real heavy hitters in the OOTP world but it's a good example of a great league with little "hype".
