No Respect

Classic MLB, Underground League of Baseball, R3BL -

We all need to vent every once in while, and although I'm no better than anyone else on this planet I am sick and tired of all the leagues with commishes who disappear.

I wasn't in any one of these 3 leagues but I have friends who are and I've been involved in about 5 myself that have gone under. Classic was saved by Mike Lambert recently, and now he is trying to save the Underground.

This is truly sad considering these former commishes didn't even give their owners the respect of telling them they had had enough or try to hand it over to someone else to keep running. Seems they all need to take some lessons from AdventureRan.

For those of you who are a part of ULB, stick with Mike, he is a standup guy.

It's not easy being a commish. If you get burned out or sick of it at least respect your fellow league members...

Hey Andy i appreciate that plug bro! but i do truly agree, leagues that open, fill up teams and get people excited about playing baseball year round.......then bug out is frustrating!

As for Classic and ULB.............maybe im a glutton for punishment, but NO league will fold if im in it! i play for the love of the game so no league is dust with me!

This site makes very little sense to me, there is one league listed and it is closed? I don't see any way to add leagues to the listings, what is the point exactly? It is for OOTP leagues? There is very little info on the page and very few links. Just would like to know. thx.

The site has just been put up recently and we are adding leagues very soon........if someone wanted to add their league to the site, they would follow the link that talks about "starting your own league"........we are gonna have about 5 more leagues added in the next month or so, the classic league was a league we moved to our server since the old commish ducked out and we brought it back. but there will be more leagues added so just check back periodically or email me @ duckfart76@comcast.net, just in case you have any questions that were not answered

no..........you can list on the OOTP site just like i did, im not sure if you are wanting to advertise on our site for your league? if so, there is a message board that is being added as we speak, so you can promote on there, or you can email the webmaster of the site and talk to her about putting a pic up we are more then happy to promote leagues that arent on our server. hope that answered everything, maybe i missed one and if so, im sorry and let me know if i can help any other way

Advertising is not really what I am aiming for, I am just trying to grasp the concept for this.

the concept for what? the site? simleaguecentral.com is a gateway site for baseball sim leagues. people can run their own league, play in a league (once they are added), or even just look at leagues. The site is not finished and things are being added everyday, its a work in progress, for instance, when another league is added to the site, it will say "open" instead of full, that way people can join leagues that interest them. remember, it is a work in progress.

The hosting packages are rather competitive considering you dont have to worry about servers going down with the company we use, plus we offer more then what most others do

To answer all questions on or about this site - you can contact me - considering I am the one building it

1. The answers to the "do you have to be on your server" - of course not - that would be ridiculous. The only ones I require that remain on my server are pay leagues and that is for tracking reasons and pay out reasons. As the site continues to finish into the final product there will be links to add your own leagues to the site listings under free leagues. It will take a couple forms to fill out and that is it.

2. As for the hosting factor. The little saying "you get what you pay for" comes into my mind. Sure - I would love to think that I could everything I wanted for a mere 5.95 a month. But to be honest, I am smarter than that I know what to look for in hosting and most of those places (while good) will not be exactly the best thing. It will for work for some and not others. For what I do, it does not work. For what I offer - they will not offer the same thing. They offer their services in huge amounts *hoping* that you will never ever use the space they allocate, however, I would use it all - so I choose to go with what I know works. I have had this server for over 4 years and it has NEVER been down or not worked. There is 24 hour support and service. Also, hosting with me - I offer web templates that the league owners can use to help build and manage their leagues. I also will help in the design. Thats a pretty good deal for $15.00 a month I think

Please if you have any questions - direct them to me either by email or aol.

Christina

Quoted from Simleaguecentral.com--

"Each league takes around 45 meg of space. We offer you different ranges in space so that you can choose the one that fits you the best. You can also create your own domain name (purchased seperately)."

You arent talking about OOTP leagues, I hope. It won't happen.

Not to get anything started, but 30.00 for 100 Megs of space?
Your listed features lists nothing that All-in-One or my Thrifty-Host doesnt have, and you're 6x the price of ours.

I think you'll find that you'll have to lower prices considerably to get any business.

Just my .02.......take it for what its worth.
As I said, not trying to start something; just offering some insight that, admittedly, you didnt ask for.

First of all... I was not here trying to plug my hosting as I have seen the others one do with ADVERTISEMENTS. Second of all, I went to "thrifty-host" and to all in one and saw absolutely nothing could tell me that my server would remain up AND that someone would be more than happy to sit with me for hours and help me create a dynamic league that I dont have to update a front page every night when it could automatically generate with programming and databasing... nope didnt see that. I offer this stuff myself - I have been a webmaster for over 7 years.. and you are right... I did not ask for anything and if noone wants this service then it is just as well as I get business from being a webmaster as well. CHEAPER does not always mean better. I am not trying to say nor will I ever say that I am better than another business.. I just know what I offer and the services I give is worth way more than what I have charged.

The point is...it is an OPTION to people. Not anything that is required except for pay leagues. While you may not think there will be any business..all I can say is that I will wait and see what happens. I believe still...you get what you pay for.
