Remember when the giants blew a double digit lead in 1993 to the Braves in August-September?
Shades of 1993! Then the Braves picked up Fred McGriff to make an incredible run and edge the G-Men out by a game, 104 to 103. This Giant team does not face the same challenge. The D-Backs and Dodgers are not nearly as strong as the Braves of 1993. However these Giants are not nearly as strong as the Giants of 93. I have wondered how the giants have built such a big lead with such a weak starting staff. The hitting and bullpen must have been the reason, plus the pathetic play of the D-Backs and Dodgers. Now the D-Backs are relatively healthy and the Dodgers are scoring more than 2 runs a game. The Giants have also fallen pray to the injury bug and their depth ain't so great. They have lost their starting, 1st baseman, 2nd baseman, shortstop and leftfielder (temp). Sidney Ponson has not been the answer, though he has not received much run support. I just do not see this Giant's team winning the division, unless they get suddenly healthy and the D-Backs and Dodgers fall apart, again. If Johnson and Schilling stay healthy, the D-Backs will over take the Giants in September, though it pains me to say this! If Bobby Bonds passes away, I would expect his son, Barry to take an extended leave, which is as it should be. Sorry Giant's fans, I know I seem fatalistic but did you really think this team was that good?

The Giants will be fine. They may not make out of the Playoffs, but they will make the Playoffs.

Seconded. And the depth is one of the giants strong points (well SP wise) And I dont keep up on the Giants too much, but wasn' Aurilla having an off-year anyways Big Cat can step up at 1st So they need a 2nd, 3rd and LF And a double digit lead heading into september call-up period. The Giants will win the division by 3 games atleast.

THE GIANTS ARE OK BUT THEY NEED MORE INTANGIBLES THX.
(Also don't forget Barry is not clutch so they will choke when it matters).

I think they could use some more team chemistry, and perhaps their owner mood could use a boost.

The Giants will never win without their 'proven closer' Robb Nen. He brings that special intensity to the 9th inning and he just knows how to win. Now that the DBacks have that RBI machine Hillenbrand, watch out G-men!

It certainly looks like 1993 all over again for the Mets.
