Cant play game w/ good text!!!

I can not play the game without changing the Game Configuration "Direct 3D" to Disabled. That makes the font all weird on my game, but I can play it and stuff. I'd really like to get the regular font back. The reason I cant play with it abled is because I get a error that says something like "NODIRECTDRAWHW" ... Please help. Thanks in advance!

Go to start then run and type dxdiag and hit enter. The direct X utility will open and it will let you know what version of direct X you are have installed. If it is less than v9 go to http://www.microsoft.com download and install v9, reboot your computer and then try the game again.

direct x is very important for games. You should get a config screen when you type dxdiag in START>RUN. If you are not getting anything when you type that in, I would advise that you download direct x from Microsoft
