Player histories in Cato...
Was wondering if there is anyway to edit the player histories when using Cato's history. I keep running into an error. Luckily i can still create the HTML pages, but the history error is annoying.
Also, for anyone who uses/has used Cato's, what the most seasons anyone's used it for?

I usually just omit outputting the players' histories, I am not a big fan of where they are placed on the html page and with players that accomplishes alot it pushes their stats well down the page.
You can edit the histories in two ways, the first is the easiest inside your league_news folder is another subfolder that contains all the players' histories. But I am not sure if there is a remedy to the error. The second way can only be done if you can edit access files, inside the *.mdb file is a table called pHistory that contains all the player history data. I have used the utility for a current replay that started in 1871 and is currently up to 1985. |

koohead - When i'm importing stats, i get a message that says something like E_FAIL status, it always happens while it's doing the player histories. I then have to start creating the HTML, at which point i get an error right when it starts doing the players. Luckily i can just close the program, open it back up & hit Create HTML again & it goes through fine.
AngelinOF - I'm not really a big fan either, i know what you mean about the long histories. And WOW, over 100 years. Does it take a long time to create the HTML pages. I'm on 32 years & it takes over 2 hours. I don't have a great computer, though.

That just happened to me too recently moonshineboy... It was annoying to death...
What it ended up being was for some reason Alfonseca's history was crashing it.. The way I figured it was him was by going through the db and seeing where it stopped. I then removed his player history text file, tried to import player histories and it ran fine... It was a few hours of torment.. I still have no idea what it was about his specific history that caused it to bomb, but I was able to fix the problem with it not importing histories.. Hope this helps.

The only thing I create after the end of each season is the league and leaderboard pages which now takes about 30 minutes. I only generate the player html pages once every 5 seasons and the last time I did so it took about 6 hours.
