Big Problem With Amateur Draft
There is one thing that is really bugging me right now. The amateur draft. Here I am the wonderful Detroit Tigers with the 8th overall pick in the draft and I select David Murphy. A guy who who has excellent potential in contact, good in power and fair in disipline. And i go and look in awe at my future star and see that my scout was drunk when he scouted him. Because he is now Good in contact, fair in power, and poor in disipline. This is all in the same day. The scout used for the draft is Joe Average who says 'oh he is the next Andre Dawson' and when my scout looks at him after I drafted him, he says 'oh did he say Andre Dawson, he looks more like Danny Tartabull.' I wasted my 1st round pick. Now i have heard of busts but not in the same day. I shouldn't find out that he is horrible until I rush him up to early because I manage the Tigers.
Point is, It would be nice if your team scout did the amateur players scouting. |

Did you "reset" your league at some point? I have not had the problem or seen the problem, but I think that someonelse had this happen and we traced it to the "resetting" of the league.

Reset it how? I just started my league and started playing. Then the draft came and I drafted my players, but the potential the players are drafted as change once I go to my roster. During the draft it states on the bottom that an average scout is scouting all the talent.

Is this a solo league? Did you view them via the draft screen and have the ratings glitch or view via web?

Yes, this is a solo league. I don't know what the issue is with this league but when I opened up my white sox league that happened to be during the draft. It did say that Kenny Williams was doing the scouting. So that file was correct.
My tigers league was started using the new roster set that was current as of mid-season. And when it was my turn to select in the draft, at the bottom it didn't list my Scout as the Draft scout, it listed some average guy and this isn't the first time I saw it. |

I don't really see a problem with players becoming busts over a short period of time, like say after a few months his blue stars start to disappear. In my solo league I had my 5th overall pick go to two blue stars after 3/4 of a season, and my 4th round pick jump to the #1 prospect in the league after a season. But you're right, there should be no "overnight" busts. That's just a little too unrealistic.

It sounds like there were two different scouts, one has one opinion and the other has another opinion. What are the guy's actual talents?
I don't think he changed, it's just the scouts.

The issue here isn't "overnight bust". It's the fact that the player was drafted using a different scout than your own.... I'm not sure why this happened, but this is the issue we need to investigate.

Wow, more whiff responses in this thread than I've seen in a long time. It's not a 'quick bust' problem, he said it happened in the same day. We know the player didn't change, the scouts did, that's what the complaint is about. Like SK said, this has come up more than once with 'Joe Average' doing draft scouting instead of your team's scout in a solo league.
Anyway I just wanted to say that this from the OP cracked me up: Quote:
