Online Leagues

What extra does your commish do, that you love so much? Basically outside of the game or something that not every game has because its not completely included in the game. Does he create extra forum activity, do some cool web pages, extensive history, what? I want to know what to look for and to expect, thanks for your help up front.

(with a gun held to my head)

crackpott lives for the FBBL. I don't think anyone could ask for a better commissioner than him.

Take that gun away Phil, we're not supposed to have that in Canada.

Anyway, it's true, Phil does everything for his league, I've been around the FBBL for a certain time and while the offseason is long, it's well ran and a great place to be. I really have nothing to say anymore...

...that didn't say what I did outside the game. I wanted you to plug the league, not me.

Anyway, I run a college league, in which I have to manually recreate the players into the major league draft. That sucks. It takes me forever. I have arbitration for veterans who are becoming free agents also.

The USBA Commish Scott Fite is great (although I'll never admit that to him!), seriously. He does a great job encouraging writers and ghost writers and runs the league with an incredible amount of integrity. In addition, he has done an outstanding job running our All-Star Games, Team History Pages, etc. Actually a lot of the writing and work that comes into the league from other sources is a tribute to how hard he has worked to make it a great league.

The Maelstrom duo, Shannon Dugan and Shane Orr, on the other hand are also spectacular. They are able to run live sims that have personality and a good amount of attendance. They do an awesome job with the front page and always keeping it interesting. Perhaps most of all though, they give the league personality through the running of a college league, introduction of legends, a tournament for non-playoff teams, and again, the live sims.

There is a reason that these two leagues have become two of the most respected leagues in the OOTP On-line League universe and that reason is the three guys mentioned above.

Use of the term "on the other hand" generally implies counterpoints to a previous point, or effectively the opposite of what you've just said. So saying "on the other hand, they're spectacular" implies that Scott is less than spectacular.

Just thought I'd be a pain in the ass about that.

Wink

I was trying to keep everything I said from going to Scott's head, I figured it would be a subtle way of deflating from his ego all the inflating I just did!!!

Check out the DDBL in my sig. Beorn does a tremendous amount of outside work to try to make our fictional league as absolutely realistic as possible. He gives each player in the league at least a half dozen more ratings. It's amazing how much work he does.
