Batter Comparison Tool (Spreadsheet)
This spreadsheet does three things.
First, it takes up to three years of batting statistics and removes the park factors to put all batters on equal footing for comparison. See whether that power hitter from Colorado deserved the MVP award. Second, it applies a park factor to all batters. See if that new power lefty will thrive in Fenway. Should the Braves acquire a power righty or a contact lefty? Third, it condenses three years of statistics to one year's worth based on custom weights. This can be used to evaluate talent or consistency, or to predict future performance. All the info you need is on the first sheet of the spreadsheet. There are two players programmed in as examples, A-Rod and Bonds. The final page shows their predicted statistics for 2003 if they played half their games in Coors field, with 2001 statistics weighted twice as heavily as 2000, and 2002 statistics weighted three times as heavily as 2001. Let's just say we would have some new records if this had come true... Note: This file has macros (I think). I promise there are no viruses which would harm your computer, but nevertheless you are using this at your own risk. If you are nervous, run a virus scanner on it. Any questions, comments, or concerns - please ask. -HH PS The file is just a tiny bit too big to post If anyone wants to host this, I'll email it to them and link it here so you can can check it out. If you send it to me at adventureran@ransplace.com, I'll put it up on OOTPLinks.com for all.

How does it figure out or use park factors in this spreadsheet? Does it automatically compute them for each park, or are they pre-programmed in based on RL parks, or do they use the OOTP park factor settings? Or D) None of the above

Sounds cool. I'll download it and give it a try when I get a chance.

You have to type in name, team, games, at bats, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, walks, strikeouts, stolen bases, and caught stealing.
If I knew how to make the spreadsheet import from a Joe's Exporter CSV or html files, I would (anyone who wants to, go ahead). the spreadsheet is in .xls format (Excel)
