Using Microsoft Speech to announce the play by play for OOTP
I've used Microsoft Speech to read my dialog using Everquest. EQ produced a log and Speech read it as it played along. It isn't perfect but it's pretty darn good.
I'm wondering if OOTP produces a log file that speech could read? I don't have a clue how to implement something like this but I wanted to bring it up for discussion. Maybe its easy, maybe we could contact the fellow that made the "EQWatcher"? Any thoughts or idea? I think having the play by play announced would be amazing. The speech tech. has came a long way since the movie "War Games"

Does your macro work during the game or is it used after the game?

Down at download.com they have some free speech software. Just search speech then narrow it down to only free software.

The macro works on game logs generated after the game. It's not perfect, but it puts the game into a format that you can quickly add some intro text and anything else you would like to flavor the broadcast a bit.
We tried it in the ABA and it worked to some extent. The computer voice tends to get on your nerves after 10 or 15 minutes. I stopped doing a game every sim and will start doing only special games like the All-Star game and WS games. |

What is Microsoft Speech? Is it something that comes with Windows that I should have?

I posted an MP3 of a log converted using the macro. I think it's still on my website (linked from the aforementioned thread.)
