Question position players 'learning' pitcher?????

I have played 5 a couple of hours and had this happen twice: While simming I get an email which tells me that player x (a position player) has sucessfully learned his new position, Pitcher. I am using the latest version of the game and started with GForce's rosters.

It's becoming more of a common thing in baseball now. Players that were originally signed as position players either can't hit professional pitching or can't make the change from aluminum bat to wooden bat but have a heck of an arm so instead of letting them go the organization tries to turn them into a pitcher. Case in point: Victor Zambrano of the Devil Rays. Brooks Kieschnick who has been in baseball since the early 90s as an OF came back up this season with the Brewers as a reliever.

I don't think that is what he was referring to. In GForce's rosters for some reason a few minor leaguers will pitch occasionally and once in a great while you will get an email stating that a non-pitcher has learned the position. In this case they usually get a defensive rating, but still have no actual pitchers ratings. I have no idea why this happens, but I have noticed it also.

No. *sigh* I will try again. AT RANDOM I get a dialog telling me that some POSITION PLAYER had learned a new POSITION, pitcher. This IS NOT POSSIBLE to do in the game by choice. It happens at random to some player. Form that point the game gets very confused as to whether the player is a pitcher or a hitter. For example, the player is listed with the pitchers in the trade dialog. He will also be put in games by the AI and will actually pitch. Again, THIS IS RANDOM, not something I chose. It is being forced on me. THIS IS A BUG! Its happens A LOT. Five players now in five seasons have "learned" to play pitcher defensively on my team alone. I do teach players other positions. I will teach CF guys LF or RF. I will also teach SS to play 2B and, if any player has crappy range but good power, I will teach him 1B. But IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to teach a position player to play pitcher defensively AND YET IT HAPPENS AT RANDOM. Sorry to yell, but people seem to be either ignoring me or completely misunderstanding what I am trying to say. I have some screen caps. I will post them tomorow.

That is the only time that I have seen it. Have you seen it with any other rosters?

no, just wondering. This problem really bugs me. What roster, other than GForce's, would you recomment the most? Does anyone else have a fairly complete set of minor league players?

So this doesn't bother anyone but me, then? Either that or no one actually uses GFoce's rosters? Is there another roster set as good as his?

I downloaded one from some guy named "truecardinalfan" don't get that one. It is awful. It has players in it that seem as if he just designed them to piss me off. Such as the catcher named Luis Gonzalez who has a 10 rating for hitting left handed pitching and 0's, 1's, and 2's for every other rating. Or the 2B with a 60 rating for hitting doubles. He also decided to make 80% of pitchers have either a good or brilliant strikeout rating...anyways...don't use the one from that dude.

fluharty - I've only seen this with any frequency while using GF's rosters. Not sure why it happens though . . .maybe due to a large amount of minor leaguers and the AI is trying to place players around to get them PT? Not sure . . .

I wouldn't mind except that they show up in the pitcher list in the trade window, which is very irritating and makes it hard to compare them to other players of similar age, etc. I wonder if there is a field I can edit with Pierre's editor that would change these guys back to position players.
