Career Leaders/HoF Files Through 1968

I've seen the files that are compiled through 2002, and I've been able to easily edit the Cy Young, ROY, Champions, etc., files back to 1968, but the HoF and Career Leaders files do not look editable. Do these exist with 1968 as an ending point, is there an easy way to edit the exiting 2002 files to achieve this, or is there another way to have the top 25 leader board populated with players who retired prior to 1969? Thanks.

I don't think they exist for any other year, atleast not that is publicly available. I have made different year career leaderboads for some people but never a different HOF file. I can try a couple of things and see if I can spit one out.

Thanks, that would be great. The HoF is not that big a deal, really. I think the leader board is probably my biggest "want".

Alternatively, I could probably go through and manually import each HoF/leaderboard player I want and they would automatically retire, showing up on my leaderboard and entering the HoF (automatically or manually), correct? Maybe I can just do that.

You might want to give each of the imported players a career-ending injury, just to be sure. I tried that with a fantasy/historical sim I was doing (without injuring them), and a handful of the more recent players DIDN'T retire. They hung around in the free agent pool and nobody picked them up, but still...

Good point. I'm assuming that the Cy Young's and Babe Ruth's would have significant trouble finding work at their age (!), but you're right, some of the great players who retired in the mid-late 60's might hang around.

For anyone who has imported players like this before, how do I go about importing a player to make sure I get their entire career's stats? For instance, if Ty Cobb's last year was 1928, I can't import him from 1928, or I won't get his last year's stats (that's my understanding of the import process, anyway). Do I need to create a Ty Cobb 1929 entry in the database and import that, to ensure that I get all stats through the end of his career?

Thanks in advance.

just make it 1969 i think.. you can always test this and find out, just delete him if it's not right. when it asks year, just say 1969..

Here is a 1969 career leaderboard. Keep in mind this isn't an accurate reflection of what the leaderboard looked like in 1969 its merely a file that has all the players who were still active in 1969 and beyond removed.

If you want to add any players here is the best way to do it:
Sim to the end of the current season, after the playoffs and prior to clicking "proceed to next season. (This is really the best time to do it)
Find the player you want to import last year, ie Ty Cobb's last year was 1928 so when you are asked for what year to import him in select 1929. This will ensure that you get all the player's stats and in most cases the ratings will be bad enough and the player old enough that he will retire. I ran into a couple of players who would stay active (Koufax & Spalding).
Now once you click proceed to next season the player will retire without worries of giving the player a CEI and also the 1969 stat line will be erased from his player card since he didn't see any MLB action.

As I recall, you simply import Ty Cobb from the year AFTER his last year playing, no need to create an entry in the database. That way, it pulls in all of his stats, along with a blank year at the end.

Wonderful and very cool. I'm at the end of 1968 season in my current solo league and this dovetails perfectly in with my active players. Thanks.
