Bobby Higginson

Man....is this guy one of the biggest underacheivers or what. What happened to him? I used to think he would be one of the next great superstars but he's completely off the radar now. I checked his stats today and my God....he's become a low average punch and Judy type hitter. Wow!

You thought he would be a great superstar? At best he was just an above average regular. But, yeah, on your main point his decline has been pretty shocking. Almost Baergaish in terms of how far he fell so fast.

well...I thought he had a bright future after hitting .320 in his second season with decent power...hell in 2000 hit hit .300 with 78 extra base hits and good walks. He seemed like he'd have a productive career.

Nice timeline by the way....don't get much Detroit baseball news here in NY...oh well...

all in good fun.

The Yankees actually back pedaled on a close deal for Higginson in 2000 (?, could be 2001...).

So happy they didn't pull that one.

He's from Upstate Western New York. Cut the guy a break. Glass Tiger is still the most requested group on their local Top 40 radio station.

"Don't forget me when I'm gone... (Bryan Adams) My heart will break...."

But, seriously. I agree with you. I thought Higginson was going to be a stud. Could it be that he can't cut in the new ballpark? It's not much of a home run park like the ol' Tiger Stadium.

Seems as though the Yankee always go after almost every player avaible. so its not a surprise they went after him as well.

There was a time where I also thought he'd be a solid OF'er, producing a .280+ average with 20+ HR's a year.

Does anyone know if he's playing hurt this year ? It's not like he's 39 years old and age is catching up to him. Maybe he stopped corking his bat ?

Hey there's nothing wrong with Upstate Western New York. And who the hell is Glass Tiger?

I think he could still be decent. Like a good rollplayer on a team such as redsox, yanks, or some organization like that. He has struggled this year, but with that team, who wouldnt?

He would be a good rollplayer. Unfortunately, he makes far to much money for anyone to want him thanks to former GM Randy Smith's brilliance.
