Question Brand New

So I just recently happened upon this game while surfing the internet, and I have quickly become addicted to it. Over the past couple of years I have entrenched myself in fantasy baseball, even creating my own excel spreadsheet that charts all of the statistics for my team. Well, this game has allowed my to feed my fantasy needs whenever I want by giving me even more options to play with while mimicking real life. I must confess, though, that I am still confused about the online league options that OOTP5 makes available. Could anyone try to give me a brief guide to online playing? Do most leagues simulate their games or can someone manage in-game? How many seasons are simulated throughout the course of a year? How often may one update their team? I ask these because I might be interested in trying my hand against some real people instead of only the solo leagues that I have been playing. Before I do that, though, I know that it is important for me to have an idea of what I might be getting into. Thank you for your assistance.

Well, i can give you some answers, online leagues usually sim once every 2-3 days, and therefore you get to update your team every 2-3 days. Some leagues sim online in chat rooms and some just sim and pot the results. I dont think there's a managing in game feature for online play yet, but i'm sure it's coming. And every league has their own unique rules but i'm sure you will like it. Generally it's a lot more challenging than solo league. So Good luck!

An awesome guide for beginners to online leagues exists here:

http://www.400softwarestudios.com/bo...&threadid=5493

I played solo leagues for about a year before discovering online leagues, they're a complete blast if you get in with the right group of guys.

As an aside, the NABA is recruiting for a new owner, check out this thread if you're so inclined:

Hope this helps!

Awww, man. Now it makes me sad that I had to give up the Toros after drafting that team. Why did my wife convience me to move to a new house that went a month without a phone?

Glad to see that Castro, Mastrangelo and Briner made a great core pitching staff.

(The sound you hear is my head hitting the wall)

They sure did, and the switch to OOTP5 helped Mastrangelo & Briner a lot. Thanks for putting together a great initial draft!

You have got to try it out. Online leagues are tons of fun. First off, I'd highly recommend checking out A.J.'s league - NABA.

To answer some of your questions....
All online leagues sim the games (the Commish typically performs this duty)
Most leagues sim either 7 days or 10 days at a time
Most leagues sim 2 or 3 times a week
So you can get through a whoel OOTP season in 6 to 12 weeks (or so ).
You get to update your team before every sim.

That is it a nutshell. Get involved in a league, you won't regret it!
