runtime error

After I installed the 5.11 patch and went to play, every time I tried to create a league, or quit the game I receive an error message from microsoft visual c++ runtime library saying that there has been a runtime error in ootp.exe and it says abnormal program termination. I have tried going back to 5.10, but I am still having the same problem. I have Windows XP, 4 gb of free space, 512 mb RAM.

Have you deleted any files or leagues? Also, are you sure that the patch is installed properly? It must be unzipped in the same directory as the OOTP5 game AND "overwrite" the old files.

I'm having the same problem

I can no longer play OOTP now that I've downloaded 5.11. I get the same error on attempts to open any of my leagues.

I cannot create any new leagues either.

Game is dead.

I tried reinstalling the patch. Same problem. It is correctly installed.

What are the next steps to reinstalling the game? Is it possible the Create folder got corrupted? How would you get a new, default Create folder, if the answer is yes.

Want to avoid long download time to reinstall entire game.

If I have to reinstall entire game, how do I do this, with e-license, etc.?

I changed no leagues before installing the patch. I also reinstalled the earlier version and now get the same runtime error. Nothing runs now.

Sounds like something got corrupted during installation of Patch 5.11.

What are the steps to troubleshoot this?

I would re-install the whole game and see what happens.

How do you reinstall? How do you deal with the e-license?

Do you uninstall and then download the new game all over again?

Step by step, I need to know how, please.

Then do you load the patch after all of that?

To unlicense a game you need to find where your "eLIcense" folder is located(it can be different with certain OS), typically it is found either in the "my computer" area or "control panel". When you locate it do the following:

-You should be able to simply "left-click" or open the folder.
-This will show you the different companies that produce programs on your PC currently using the "eLicense" system.
-Locate the company folder that produces the program you wish to "unlicense", right click on that icon and then choose the "explore" option.
-Then locate the "program icon" and right click on it. This should give you the option to "unlicense".
-A new window will open with information on the program and you "order ID" number, it is VERY IMPORTANT TO WRITE THIS NUMBER DOWN BEFORE DOING ANYTHINGELSE. If you don't you will not be able to license the game again without finding your ID number again.
-Once you have written the number down, just click the "unlicense" button.

Once you have unlicensed, then you can go ahead and just run the ootp5setup.exe. If you don't have that on your computer, you can download it again by going to www.ootp5.com. And the latest patch will be installed when you install the program, too.

I was able to play 5.11 for the first few days, but now I am getting this runtime error immediately after I load it up.

Ok, I fixed it. My problem had to due with the printer. There were pages (OOTP HTML reports) in the spool from a few days ago that hadn't been printed so I cancelled all of them. I then re-loaded without any problems.

You might wanna check your printers..
