Where Do Variant Cards Come From?

I know that you can buy/sell variant cards on the variant marketplace, but where do they originate from? Is there a way I can get variant cards without going to the marketplace - like through a mission, boost, or randomly get them by buying a certain type of card packs?

When you open a pack of cards--ANY pack of cards--every card has a very very VERY slight chance of being a variant. That's where they come from.

Edit: Less than a minute later, I go into my game and open a Standard card pack and I got a variant Al Lopez card. It's all luck.

If you obtain a card by a mission reward, does that card have a tiny chance to be a variant also?

Do you mean the mission reward card? If so, no.

Do you mean any cards you get out of packs that are mission rewards? Yes.

No, but there are a few missions where the reward IS a variant card. Forgot about those when I answered the original poster.
But VERY few. I think it's just two missions that were released recently.

Last year, they would also make variant versions of clubhouse cards, but I believe they said they aren't doing that this year.

this is correct: there were fundamental issues with it that i am very glad they are avoiding this year.

I'm glad to see that, too, although you can still waste time searching for variant cards in the clubhouse. I think it would be cool, though, if you had a 50 to 1 chance of getting a clubhouse variant card whenever you bought one. Same thing with mission reward cards.
