OOTP 25 on MacBook Pro opens for a split second, then disappears — app still running but no usable w
Hi everyone,
I’m having a problem on a MacBook Pro where the game does not fully crash, but I can’t keep the window open. When I launch OOTP 25, it appears on screen for a split second and then disappears. The app still seems to be running because the icon remains active in the Dock. If I click the Dock icon, the game briefly pops back up exactly where it left off, then disappears again. It does **not** behave like a normal crash where the app quits completely. Things I have already tried: * Force quitting OOTP and reopening it * Reinstalling OOTP 25 * Clicking the Dock icon repeatedly * Using Mission Control — it says there are **no available windows** * Checking the macOS Desktop & Dock setting for switching to a Space with open windows — it was already enabled * Toggling the Dock with **Command + Option + D** * Trying **Command + M** * Trying **Control + Command + F** None of those fixed it. The main symptom is: > OOTP 25 appears for a split second, disappears, remains running in the Dock, and has no available window in Mission Control. I’m trying to avoid doing anything that could damage or move my saved games. I do **not** want to rename or delete broad OOTP folders unless that is definitely the right fix. Has anyone seen this specific behavior on macOS? Is there a safe way to reset only the window/display/app configuration without touching saved games? If there is a specific config file to back up or rename, I’d appreciate exact instructions for where it is on Mac and which files/folders should not be touched. Thanks. |

* **Computer:** Mac
* **OS:** macOS Tahoe 26.3 * **Game version:** OOTP Baseball 25 * **Distribution:** Standalone * **Mac model:** MacBook Pro — [I can provide exact model/specs if needed] * **Crash report:** No normal Mac crash report appears because the app does not fully quit/crash. It stays active in the Dock. * **What happens:** When I open OOTP 25, the window appears for a split second and then disappears. The app remains running in the Dock. If I click the Dock icon, the window briefly flashes back up and then disappears again. * **Mission Control:** Shows no available OOTP windows. * **Error message:** No error message. * **Is it repeatable?** Yes. It happens every time I try to open the game. * **Where does it happen?** Immediately on startup, before I can get into the game or interact with settings. * **Saved game specific?** It does not appear to be tied to one saved game, because the problem occurs before I can select or load a saved game. * **Steps already tried:** * Force quit and reopen * Reinstall OOTP 25 * Toggle Dock with Command + Option + D * Mission Control check * Confirmed macOS setting “When switching to an application, switch to a Space with open windows for the application” was already enabled * Tried Command + M * Tried Control + Command + F * Backed up the `saved_games` folder to Desktop * Duplicated and renamed `app.cfg` in the OOTP 25 `config` folder to force OOTP to recreate it * **Result after resetting `app.cfg`:** The behavior still happens. On the first launch after resetting `app.cfg`, I briefly saw what looked like a “Would you like to help?” analytics/usage-sharing prompt, but the window disappeared too quickly to interact with it. On the next launch I did not clearly see that pop-up, but the app still disappeared immediately. |
