I haven't yet upgraded to OOTP 27, and I'm wondering if an issue with the historical data that has bothered me for quite a while has been fixed in the new version.
Previous versions contain incorrect strikeout totals for pitchers in 1874 and 1875, which leads to generating pitchers with incredibly high and low Stuff ratings in historical sims. For example, in 1874, Dan Collins is reported as having 18 strikeouts in 11 innings pitched, compared to Bobby Mathews' 10 strikeouts in 578 innings pitched. This is clearly data entry error of some kind, probably upstream from OOTP (e.g. FanGraphs reports the same numbers). Baseball Reference, however, has much more plausibly numbers - Dan Collins threw zero strikeouts in his 11 innings and Mathews had a league-leading 101 strikeouts in his 578 innings. (for avoidance of doubt, I also at one point tracked down newspaper articles for Collins' two games and confirmed that he did not record any strikeouts). In the past, I've used the OOTP database converter to extract the historical stats DB, pain-stakingly edited all the strikeouts totals to match the BR numbers. I'm curious to know if this has been resolved in 27, or if I should expect to have to do it again when I upgrade. |

Any incorrect stats you find, I investigate and correct as appropriate. I'm pretty quick about it too. This is the thread where you need to post them:

Thanks. That's where I monitor stuff like this. Also the 1874 and 1875 lines for Collins and Mathews now align with BBR. If it is an upstream issue, it will take manual corrections one by one, so the posts calling them out are necessary for the db to get looked at (and then corrected, as necessary).

All 1874 & 1875 pitching stat lines have been reviewed and updated to align with BBR data. So it should be good to go once a new database is generated in a future OOTP27 patch.
